Camera Bracket for Trekking (Butterfly) Handlebars

I am wanting to mount my camcorder (small Sony) to the handlebars of my MTBe which has trekking handlebars. The problem I am running into is as you can see in the attached photos, there is very little flat area before the bars curve up and the gear shifter and cables are right in the way. In the first photo, that bracket on the right side (looking at the photo) is for my light that hangs upside down below the handlebar.

I looked on Ebay and a few other sites for a camera handlebar mount bracket that will clear up over or out past the gear shifters and cables in order to mount the camera but no success. Any suggestions before I homebrew a bracket?
