Cycle computer not working
Hi folks,
Just wanting some advice. I recently purchased a cycle computer on Amazon (Veloset 2131T Cycling Trainer Computer) which is basic, but all I wanted is something I could use on my rear wheel as for the winter i'll be using my road bike indoors on a trainer. I'm sure that everything is set up as it should be (magnet close enough to the sensor, etc.) & I have also set up the computer to the correct wheel measurements. The computer also turns on so battery isn't an issue. I've tested it several times but it's failing to pick up any speed at all and stays at zero all the time. Not sure if i've missed anything...but i'm quite eager to get it working. |
You don't say whether the item is wired to the wheel sensor or if it is wireless, and I am too lazy to look it up. If wireless, the receiver may be out of range. I like my Schwinn wired computer that I picked up for $5 at Kmart. It works, turns on and off automatically and I can see most of the information points I want to see in the scan function. It does not count cadence.

Are you sure you have pushed the computer as far as possible on to the bar mount -- is there a click to indicate it is in place?
Also, are you using a magnetic trainer? And if so, have you mounted the sensor on the chainstay up near the brake? This is unlikely, but check the contacts on both the computer and mount, and give them a gentle scrape with a sharp knife. |
Have you tried touching the magnet DIRECTLY on the pickup? I've had a couple of computers that needed the magnet to almost brush the sensor to be picked up. For those I print a magnet holder and put a strong neodynium magnet in the holder to take the place of the relatively weak magnet they ship with.
