how to open up a cree light
hi, hope this is the right forum for this
Bought one like this Buy ZXC-01 Cree XM-L T6 910lm 3-Mode Memory White Bike Light - Black (4 x 18650) , now I can't get it to work. I plug it in and it shows fully charged,i have another one coming to test it but with a volt meter shows full charge. When I plug it into the light, The on/off button shows red and it will only give me one level of light rather than three, very dim light, now i been trying to open it up to have a look might be lose wire or something ,but i am stuck how do you open these up ??? there's 2 holes in the bottom of pic , and not sure how to carry on from here ??? anyone? heres the pic, http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...ps8e48064e.jpg any help would be appreciated ty |
circuit board is on the other side , you just unscrewed the reflector side . test ing the circuit requires accessing the circuit board
maybe it has a short or a loose solder joint Defective IC? whats your time worth ? buy a new one and 'shine' that one on.. |
I fund the problem to be with the battery connector being too large.
Fixed it with a small tap to make it egged shaped. http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/LightTap.png |
ty bob , i have ordered a new one but i like messing with things and its frustrating that i cannot open it to get to the circuit board
and wheels ty i try that and still not working . |
The one I bought looks very much like yours. I had a wire break loose from while riding on a gravel. It went from light to no light though.
I was able to access the circuit board by pushing on the wire after I removed the handlebar mounting base. The plate behind the light slid forward until the circuit board was exposed. I found the broken wire and re-soldered it. It works fine now. The wires are extremely thin . It was fairly meticulous to solder the wire and keep the solder from reaching the other wires. I used the solder that was already on the circuit board and remelted it at the wire. |
The ring with the two holes screws out. Circlip pliers are a big help here.
