I have a spare Garmin Nuvi which may be useful on the bike when in unknown area's.
Should it stand up to the road roughness - any idea how long will it work without charging?
Finally, is there a bike/bar mount available perhaps? Garmin does not sell them (anymore).

I ended up with a Garmin 800 Edge device.
But I used to occasionally stuff my TomTom auto GPS device into a Jersey pocket as a backup in case I got lost. It would easily go a couple of hours without charging and the size/weight was not outrageous.

I tried my car's GPS, but it didn't last long. I don't remember how long. Definitely not for a weekend ride. Not only that, the audio wasn't loud enough for turn-by-turn directions.

The battery in my Nuvi doesn't last long. My guess is that the intent of the battery is to run the device long enough so you can set up destinations etc. before hooking it up to the car for longer term operation. Many cars don't power the lighter/accessory jack when not running so this allows programming the GPS before starting the car.
