I almost bought the Saferide a few months ago based on PaulRivers' recommendation, but went with the B&M Ixon IQ Premium instead for two reasons. 1) The battery life on the B&M is way better 2) I have Ixon fork crown mounts on several of my bikes and greatly prefer that to a handlebar mount.

I got the Ixon IQ premium for significantly less than $100 by ordering direct from a German online retailer.

I've gone to recommending the Saferide because it's light output is easier to recommend. It's not as wide of a beam, and it's battery life is not as good, but especially the 5500k version they're selling on amazon is definitely bright enough for anyone.

The Ixon Iq Premium I like, but opinions on it's light output were all over the place. I had kind of an usual light color output. I was in the middle - it was enough, but I could see how it would be nice to have more. A couple people thought there was no need for any more light ever, 2 other people who seemed to have bought and used the light found it way to dim. I'm a little hesitant to recommend it without qualifying it first.

Whereas I wish the Saferide didn't go into low mode after 1.5 hours, and I wish it had a wider beam. The Ixon Iq Premium beam shape is wider and imo better. But the 5500k version of the Saferide - I can't imagine it not being bright enough for anyone at all, ever. It's a very bright light, with a good shaped beam as well. And since it's $80's right here in the US from amazon...

Fenix B Series Bike Lights and Accessories I like my BT-20 because I can buy high quality 18650 batteries and am not stuck with a battery pack.

I like the 1200 lumen bright eyes light I have. Simple and the battery lasts for ever. 8 hours plus on high about 16hours on medium and 24 hours on low.

However is it VERY bright.

What is the name of that light?

I haven't see a light that puts out 1200 actual lumens, and has an 8 hour battery on high, that isn't insanely expensive. Actually I'm not sure I've seen any that are expensive either...

Search turned up this at Amazon at $40. It looks like it is a nominal 1200 lumen Magicshine-alike, with a claim of 3 hours on high.

Maybe this isn't the intended light.

While mine(NiteRider MiNewt 600) was around $140(NiteRider has since stopped making it and replaced it with the Lumina 770). It is extremely bright, and USB re-chargeable.

I've got both the Niterider Lumina 680 and Light&Motion 550 and I must say the L&M is better overall. It has a nicer shape, is lighter, and smaller but as effective as the Niterider. Biggest problem is the heat.

planet bike's 1w Blaze is made in a battery or a wired to a dynohub version.. they put a plug in near the light, so both can QR & go in your pocket.

A crappy ****ty light. That's the battery version. Do not buy.

I went with PlanetBike lights, initially. All they did was eat up batteries.

I have three Cygolites - two 550s and one 400. 550 is much brighter and has a nice beam shape, lights up the road wonderfully. We're keeping the 550s and will return the 400 and get another 550. Of the lights I looked at it had a very secure, easy to use mounting system, easy to move between bikes, and has more than enough light for the type of night riding we do (primarily bike paths, some road riding in bike lanes). Set properly won't blind other bikers or cars.

Didn't consider the external battery pack/zillion lumen lights as it's overkill for me and don't like futzing w/an external pack - just clip the Cygolite on the mount and off we go. Only thing I don't like is lack of charge status, but since I charge after each use and it's Li-ion battery, won't really matter. Very happy - cost about $65? They have other models w/removable batteries so you can swap batteries (which I like a lot more than an external pack) and if I needed more time/extra juice I'd go that way.

The 1/2 watt will have a longer run time than the 2 watt , of course.

the Dynamo wired version will work when the hub dynamo turns ..

I just use a battery light on my Seldom Ridden Bikes short trips

I have the Cygolite 550. In the $65.00 rechargeable range, I can't imagine a light being much more. The strobe feature is nice for day time or evening rides.
