Review: Fenderbot Taillight

Here's a short review on the Fenderbot taillight by Portland Design Works. I had a seat post mounted tail light but added a basket to the rear rack so the search was on for a fender mount battery powered tail light. Choices are very limited and I settled on the Fenderbot for 14 bucks. I like the style and simplicity of operation. The switch only offers steady on or flashing. You don't have to cycle through eight different modes to turn it off. Illumination is okay from the single led and two AAA batteries so it suits my needs for bike trails and city streets. Quality is very good and if you don't need a high power light it's a good choice...

I have occasionally wondered why they didn't upgrade this light. I have a radbot that I like a lot. I use it in addition to a fender mounted dyno powered tail light.

One LED can be bright. My city bike has a one LED tail light and I can see cars glow red as I pass. It's driven by a generator and is just .5 watt. Brighter than you really need.

My road bike's rear flasher has 1-LED and good side visibility through intentional reflections. But my new 5-LED $12 blinkie has the outer two LEDs aimed sideways for better than 180-coverage. But none look as nice as yours, and I like its built-in reflector.
