Bordeaux for a couple days. On the cheap. Suggestions?
Hi,
I'll be in Bordeaux this fall for business. I want to take a 3-4 days, maybe more depending on cost, to tour around. Ideally ride 50-80 miles a day, fine if the terrain is rugged. I could just ride around Bordeaux each day, better would be a loop starting and ending in Bordeaux. I'll be going solo, keeping costs to a minimum, and don't speak a lick of any language other than English. I don't know anything about the region other than I've heard it's nice to ride there. Any suggestions on how I can at least being planning?
thanks!

Bikes: Touring bike for commuting and traveling, older mountainbike for fun, folder for taking on high-speed trains, where other bikes are not allowed

Here https://www.tourisme-aquitaine.fr/en/...AF96,bike.html you may start planning. And when in France get the Michelin maps and find the white and yellow roads, they are nice for cycling and have little traffic.
English as only language may be outside of hotels and tourist offices a bit tricky, you may have to ask several persons before you will find somebody who will speak sufficient english.

I took my bike to the Bordeaux region last fall. .Nearby Bordeaux, our experience is it was flat. We did a loop about the Park Regional des Landes de Garsogne. Stop by the Eglise Notre Dame des Cyclistes east of Mont de Marsan. A church dedicated to cyclists with TDF jerseys decorating the wall. At the nearby town of Labaside there are very active cycing clubs which sponsor bike races/ tours several days a week. / Want a less flat ride. Put your bike on the train and go to the Garsconne. Slightly hilly and great wine country. Another nearby region for great cycling, the Dordogne region about Perigueux. The photo below of the Eglise - Notre Dame des cyclistes at Labastide.
