Touring through Europe now-august, looking for other riders, ideas, information
I'm starting my cycling tour this Saturday (May 8th) with two friends, beginning in Munich and following the Danube trail until we hit Budapest around the 24th and then heading to Croatia and ending in Ljubljana, Slovenia around June 6th.
AFTER that, my two friends will be leaving. I don't have any specific plans yet, but am looking for fellow riders to hook up with. Since I'll be in Croatia, I would love to head south or east, but going west through Italy and onward or taking a train to somewhere completely different is not out of the question either!
I would like to search out some urban bicycle communities (s.a. bike polo, bike collectives/coops, etc). Also really into radical theater/puppetry, radical art spaces, lively squatter communities. And outside of the cities, would love to stay at a farm for a while, maybe wwoofing, etc. But of course I am up for anything as long as I have good company! Any info is good info!
Thanks in advance,
krissy

Danube trail.. Congrats, lucky you.. Unfortunately , we followed some of it's routing from within a stinkin car or on a Danube mini cruise... .. You are in for some great scenery.. We talked to some Hungarian cyclists while eating at a riverfront restaurant.. They were a part of a Hungarian touring society from Budapest . I am sure googling Hungarian cycling associations will find support groups, since cyclists on tour were to be found everywhere..

Hi,
How is the tour going? Did you enjoy the Danube Trail? I have been looking at doing that trip myself for a long time and am extremely jealous. Did you start at the beginning of the trail or in Munich? I'm wondering how long it took you to arrive in Budapest?

hey matt, trip is going very well so far! we're in zagreb, croatia now and heading to the coast tomorrow. we took a train from munich to passau on the germany-austria border, and it took about 2 weeks to get to budapest, taking our time and even staying in vienna for 4 days. btw vienna has a fun bike collective and culture! if u ever have the chance its really an awesome route to take w friends. also we've stealth camped the whole trip, very easy.

hi krissy, great work. i'm very happy to hear that about the stealth camping. i'm hoping to do a similar trip either in september this year, or wait until next year. it is good news about the camping, and so great to hear that you're having a fun time.

Biking Croatia and go down to Serbia and Macedonia can be a experience to remember. Expenses are so small...
I recommend some bike touring Dalmatian coast in Croatia.
The nature is so beautiful is almost unbelievable.
