The guy thinks it's European mongoose. I have been wanting a bmx since covid and when I saw this at the truck show today before I knew it I had purchased it.

Is it possible to get gears on this or will it have to stay single speed? When I was a kid I had a bike like the yellow stingray on the bottom and it had gears. I think I found a place that I use shimano BB and switch over to a gravel/mtb
shimanno 24mm crankset which I think it would give me more options and gears to chose from.

oh, a few people asked. No I did not get the frame for $20. that was just for the stem. ha-ha

I recently picked up an old Mongoose Moosegoose frame and I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth doing a proper restoration or just keeping it as a display piece. The frame looks original, but I’m not 100% sure on the year or how complete it should be.

From what I can tell, these old Mongoose race frames aren’t super common anymore, especially in decent condition. Mine has some wear but no major cracks.

• Is this something worth restoring fully?
• How hard is it to source correct-era parts?
