Hi
Can someone please recommend a decent helmet camera or bicycle cam in general. I looked on Amazon and most of them have a bad review. Most of them are not water proof or the battery sucks. I am willing to spend a maximum of $200 Canadian.

Thank you

Hi all,

Out of cycling for almost 10 years and looking to get back in. Need to get a new computer - don't have my old SRM anymore. Would like to get a Garmin 850/550, but not sure if it can do the following. If not, then I'd get a Wahoo ELEMNT if it can.

On my SRM PC8, I had three pages I would cycle among during a ride or activity. On the first page, I'd display current heart rate, cadence, speed, and power. On the second, average heart rate, average cadence, average speed, and average power. And on the third, max heart rate, max cadence, max speed, and max power.

I've read the online manuals, but can't figure out if I can have these 12 data fields on a Garmin and cycle through them as I was saying. On the Wahoo ELEMNT, is "seems" like I can, but still not sure. Can anyone confirm or not?

Thanks! Alex

I was considering this as a tracker which is the main thing I'm after as someone steals my bike I can track its location track it down have the cops go and get it and deal with the culprit and then have them arrested

But this customer review has

Has made me consider otherwise
Especially for the main feature I'm after the tracking I didn't fully understand what it was telling me but I got this since that it wasn't great

So I'm asking if anyone knows of any trackers for bikes whether it's a just a simple tag like an air tag or one that is meant for a bike
It would be helpful if you could give me some tips I would prefer one that is none subscription can track it to a location within 5 or 10 ft
The battery thing I can deal with but I would prefer rechargeable
Also I had a Motorola 2022 g stylus
I would prefer something other than an air tag from Apple iPhone

What do you guys recommend oh also if it's not clear I need to track it over the distance of a city or two because I've already had four bikes stolen and who knows how far they took the bike they could have taken it like three or four cities over distance wise

I'm setting up a new bike for my wife and rethinking her light setup. Most of the riding is bike paths, but there are spontaneous trips to town or friends homes with the kids using local roads. Time/life has proven that she is forgetful to turn her lights on, and then turning them off when not on the bike (killing the batteries). Then she is anxious that she doesn't have working lights the next time she grabs the bike, so I'm trying to come up with a better approach. I've been around bikes and lights for decades, but never waded into dynamo hubs or lighting. Before I move forward, would a dynamo hub w/ front and rear light setup be a good use case here? My understanding is that they are on when you are moving, then most stay on for a short period when not moving (like at a stop sign) until you spin up again.

I've been looking at all the dynamo hubs out there. I know SON is the standard....and expensive. I was looking at economical options like the Shutter Precision PD-8. I see mixed reviews with SP hubs; either people have had zero issues and love them, or they died within a year and hate them. This bike is lightly used for commuter-style riding, only ridden in dry/good weather, and parked in a dry, sealed garage, so it won't be abused like a hub on a tour/bikepacking trip or living in a bike rack outside an apartment. Assuming a dynamo hub is my solution, I'm wondering if Shutter Precision is a good choice for me?

Thanks!

After a recent week of daily riding in heavy rain, water entered (my fault, of course) and there now is brown corrosion visible through and on the front lens. It still works, and I'm tempted to leave it alone, but I also wonder if I should attempt to remove the front housing (apparently it simply unscrews) and try cleaning it out with contact cleaner or somesuch. (The argument against it is that I haven't the slightest idea what I'm doing and could easily mess something up through ignorance.)

Thoughts?

I'm a hobbyist bicycler, soon to turn 77 years old. Been bicycling again since 2023, acquired some new-tech bikes since I started back with it.

I like gadgets (don't we all?) and power meters ought to fit this label pretty well I trust. I've got a 4iiii left crank for one bike now, proves to be a reliable data-deliverer.

Still, the potential appeal of a pair has me yearning for answers. 4iiii's are more than I want to spend (now that I own a single) so pedals are my next choice.

They're all rather spendy aren't they? Least costly are the Assioma Duos, that appear to look of similar design to the (dumb?) Shimano PD-R7000's I just bought.

Anyone venture an opinion or have first-hand input they'll share as to whether Assioma Duo's will work safely with these PD-7000's cleats? I have to assume Assioma Duo's come with their own cleats, but as I have yet to use the Shimanos I might just return them for credit before then.

Milk Run
the 33rd prototype makes a daily milk run.
We used clear epoxy resin and powdered pigmentation.
This is the “Flip Bars” bike which previously had a Coroplast fairing that had been made in 2019.
Coroplast can’t make a real fairing though, only through a cardboard box to serve as a template , serving as a guide to determine the correct measurements.
The headlight is a new U-7 variant without the strobe.
the tail lights are always on, it has a 10” wide red, & two strobe lights. The 9” farm triangle was added for good measure.
five-LED white marker lights are at the corners of the panniers, it’s a one piece pannier/Tailbox slightly larger than a milk crate, made of Honeycomb Polypropylene 5mm.
Additionally the bike has been outfitted with a stereo and two speakers. The speakers up front , the volume knob in the right rear pannier, because I’d spill my coffee on it up front.
