I'm slowly getting my Nishiki hybrid set up the way I want and will post final pictures when I'm done, but I've run into a bit of a snag. Thought I would replace the brake pads as I'm sure the ones it came with are original - but the brake levers are very different.

Neither the hex bolt on the front of the brake arm, or the nut on the back of it, budge. I've only got simple tools to loosen these up, but it's not working. Anything I should be doing different to remove the pads? or is it possible they are just seized and maybe some lubricant to loosen them up? Just hate spraying oil products near the brakes.
