Several weeks ago I developed a trigger finger. Another ailment to add to my aging body. It is worse during the night. Stretching it gives temporary relief. Do these go away without medical intervention?

So, three weeks ago to the day I got hit with the worse pain I've ever felt out of nowhere. Drove myself the 45 minutes to the ER while wondering if I was dying, the pain was incredible. After about 2 hours in the ER the pain subsided to a not bad level as the stone moved down to the entrance of the bladder. Got released with instructions for follow up with my Urologist. The next morning no real pain at all, weird. My urologist got me in that day though and gave me the option to schedule a procedure to remove it. With the size of it there was about a 50/50 chance it would pass on its own. I'm still recovering for complications from two TURP surgeries so I opted to try and just pass it. 3 weeks of no pain or any other issues with weekly checks by the urologist. I was even starting back to doing 20+ mile bike rides. Then around midnight last night I got nauseated and was having hot/cold flashes all night. No pain and no fever though. Then about 7 AM this morning the pain hit me and it me hard. I took the first of the Percocet's that had originally given me and the pain just laughed at that. Luckily my Urologist was already at the hospital doing surgeries today and after some scrambling they were able to get me in for the procedure. That was the longest 7 hours of my life today. And because of where they were operating today they did not have the equipment to do the non-invasive procedure where sound waves break it up. Today's option was either let them go up inside and get it or wait a week from this Friday for the non-invasive procedure. Obviously, waiting was not an option.

Anyway, the take away for me today is don't wait if you find yourself in such a position. The pain is everything they say it is and more. This coming from the idiot who once ran 10 miles with a broken bone in his lower leg, ran the last 17 miles of my final marathon on a blown knee, yanked my own dislocated jaw back into place years ago, and had other injuries in my military days that had me hospitalized for several weeks. I thought I could deal with pain. But today's pain was worse than I experienced with any of that, I did figure the Percocet could ease the pain if I needed it so that was surprising this morning when it did absolutely nothing to give me any relief.

Still not even sure why I developed kidney stones, there are smaller ones not blocking anything in my other kidney. My days start with green tea and then I put down more than 2 liters a day of just water, a lot more on days I ride. Once they figure out what they are made of I hope to make whatever changes are need to make sure this never happens again.

Anyway, throwing this out there in case it helps anyone else. I am over 60 and have never had kidney stones before.
