I got a sidewall puncture in a brand new S-Works Turbo TLR tire. Fortunately, within a 100 yards of my house. Unfortunately, three Dynaplugs wouldn't seal it and I thought I was going to have to throw out the tire.

These Lezyne plugs are much more substantial and seal from the inside. It saved me from having to toss the tire. It didn't seal 100% until the sealant worked its way into the crevices, but it seems reasonably certain that it will be a long term fix and allow me to use the full life of the tire.
It's not NOS/NIB, but usage has been moderate, with minor wear signs. Original pulleys, one has the start of the usual crack, the other is uncracked. Overall a superb specimen, asking $145 includes shipping to lower 48 states. Give me a shout if you have questions....

Hi,
I bought the middle TA Alizé chainring (PL-50130209-42) to replace the original one on an Ultegra FC-6530 crankset. The notch on the Shimano chainring is easy to find, but I can’t locate it on the TA Alizé chainring. Can anyone point out where it is?
Best regards

I wrote not too long ago that the only place in cycling I would bet money that there was no confirmation bias was saddles, because I don’t care what it costs, or who else uses it, if your arse hurts… well, here goes.

That said. My main pavement ride these days is a 2016 Giant Defy Advanced SL1. Until this year I was running the old 28mm Conti Gatorskins that were on it when I got it a few of years ago. This yr I put on a set of tubeless 30mm GP5000 TRs, and life is better.

I’ve been tubeless on MTBs for a long time, but at 6’4” and an honest 183lbs, without shoes, the calculators always said I needed pressures in the range of 90 psi with a 25mm or 28mm tires so I never bothered, from what I’ve seen tubeless aren’t rated for that much pressure, that’s where I ran tubes anyway.

Figuring out that this frame will actually fit a 30 was a good day (unfortunately it won’t fit a 32). With 30s the Silca calculator says I need right at max pressures for tubeless, 75ish give or take, so I set it up.

First, 30s at 70-75 psi are freaking amazingly more comfortable than 28s @90 psi on the roads here in NH. I can only imagine how much nicer they’d be on that gawd awful chipseal that you have in a lot of places out west. (I swear some of the roads west of I15 in Utah are the slowest pavement I’ve ever ridden).

Second, I’m in NH, It’s May22 and we had a frost warning last night. We’ve only had a few warm days where I could get out since I put the tires on, so I’ve spent a lot of time on the trainer so far this yr. I’ve been doing training efforts on the trainer, the few rides I have gotten out on the road have been purposed as Z2 or low Z2 rides. No real efforts, just out for some air and a spin. Here’s the thing, I’m getting PRs, or 2nd bests on long flats, without trying. It’s got to be the tires.

Whether they are faster or not, and I think they are, 30mm at 75psi is way more comfortable than 28mm at 90psi.

I was very much not a tubeless guy, but that was based on it’s usefulness to me as a bigger rider on 25/28mm tires. With 30+ this seems to work.

.

I would like to learn more about:

the exact model

historical or collector value

original period components

possible rarity

catalogs or documentation from that era

The bicycle appears to retain many original parts, but I would appreciate opinions from people who are familiar with the brand and its production during those years.

I can also upload detailed photos of:

the frame

serial number

bottom bracket area

badges/logos

drivetrain and components

Any information, advice, or references would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help

Anybody here participating? There is a segment of the TA from Breckenridge CO to Farmington MO that I have yet to pedal, so I'm "dropping in" at the end of August. Hoping to see other as I venture east.

Derailleur recommendation for 14-28t freewheel

I have a PX10 with a Suntour ARII long cage derailleur. It shifts okay on the bigger cogs but shifting between the 14 and 16 is really hit or miss. I wonder if you all could recommend a vintage derailleur that would handle a 28t cog but shift a little more crisply on the small cogs? Total capacity...
