Stupid things a toad does ...

I've had the goal of a century a month for 2016. For me, that is 6x 100+ mile rides and 6x metric+ (accounting for my winter months being very busy with work and difficult to get extra time for winter 100-mile rides).

So thanks to a ton of business & personal travel, today is the only day in November when I can get a metric, it's 40F and temps are dropping, pouring rain turning to snow, and the winds are 25-30 mph with gusts getting near 40 mph.

I got the fatbike ready to go, and my wool base-layers & wind/rain shells laid out. I will hit the road after lunch.

Sounds like fun, right?!?

Careful with hypothermia. It is easy to deal with cold and wind, not so easy to deal with cold and wind when you are wet.

Best of luck to you. 70 degrees and sunny here - we get your weather about 24-36 hours later. Tomorrow, 30 degrees by dusk and snow.

did 40 miles yesterday and today. 72.3 degrees according to Garmin yesterday in the Chicagoland area. I only had to contend with a brisk wind from the south and a controlled burn on my path.

Those MN winds are blowing this way. It poured here and the low front is bringing your weather from Minny-sotaaaa.

64 miles, 5 hours out in the rain/snow, wind, and cold. I VERY happy I finished when I did, the wet cold was getting to my toes and fingers.

Here are a couple pics, I will post more details and photos later this weekend (must eat now!)

That's awesome!

I'm actually looking forward to using my studded tires when I ride to work Monday. The wind gusts up to 30 MPH should be interesting!

Officially hardcore.

I did about 50 miles in the rain a couple weeks back... but it was California rain, meaning it never got below 65º. Not a single other bike sighted the entire day. If anyone in SoCal so much as heard about a flake of snow touching the ground, they would lock their bike in a closet out of fear.

Nice! I rode home in that kind of weather without the precipitation last night and got blasted by the wind. I was comfortable in it, but I was thinking of the character it was building. You've officially got more character than me now!
