50+ Jerseys
I bought a 50+ jersey the first year they were made, and I know they were reissued several times after that. I'd like to buy a new one or two. Are they still being made or will they be available this year as well? (I can't remember who took on this project but I do remember being in awe.)

Curtis does this every once in a while. I would take it on if he isn't available to do another group sale. Up to you guys if you want to do another one shortly.

I wore mine this morning. As I was putting it on, I was thinking it had been a while since they were offered up for sale. Not sure I need another one (I have two), but I'd like to see them offered up to all those "newly-minted" 50-plus folks.

New to the forum since the last time they were available. I would buy one if they came up again.

I would, and as Curtis said, he needs people to say "I'm in and her's my money!". Maybe not a quote but that was the jest.

cccorlew is Curtis screen name, he hasn't been on, in the forum, a lot recently. He has done every bit of the work on these group buys for us, and the Northern California Forum, here, too.
The sale has to be put in motion in a set manner, it isn't an open item at Champion Systems (the long time supplier, very good company with good value.). Curtis did the design and got the members here to approve it, then that design is put on file with CS. There is a minimum item number for an order, Curtis posts that there is a group buy possible, and set a closing date. Then, using Paypal for payment, if the minimum number is reached then he will set the order in motion, if not the funds would be returned, that has not happened, to my knowledge, since the group usually passes the minimum quickly.
I have never heard a complaint about anything, including Curtis integrity, those that are lucky enough to own these things know how nice they look. I still have a LS jersey and a wind breaker. My 2 SS jerseys, and a pair of shorts, were given to some new guys that missed out on a group buy by a day, or so. Once the order is in, no changes or additions are possible and you cannot just change the design on a whim.
Some have asked for 60+, 75+, etc., or for other things added to the design afterwards, especially after the last group buy. Curtis has his teaching duties to manage as well as all the various life matters we all have to deal with, as well as family stuff, and he does group buys for the Northern California Forum here, too. In other words he is pretty busy, and this is a lot of work to do, you cannot parcel out the various duties to accomplish this, unless you are neighbors with a member, and want to take this on.
He makes on money from the group buy, he has always stated that he is looking to break even, I think he has actually eaten some costs, himself. A USPS envelope-mailer is used to send the items, as they are set rate and easily hold a piece of kit. This also held down the costs for having to ship the kit to us. Last time I talked to him (swapped PM's, and, I am not divulging content, just the data here) I learned that a new design is necessary as CS has changed the layout of the kit pieces and he will have to do the design process all over. I hope Curtis sees this and is able to do another group buy, if he cannot take one on, someone will have to take over, do the design process, pay for that, and orchestrate the group buy. I need some new kit right now, if its okayed by all of you I am willing to research CS's requirements and the costs, get up with Curtis on how best to accomplish the group buy and take it on. If it starts some gripes I am out and will get kit through the club I am a member of, West Florida Wheelmen, I don't need grief, or problems about doing this, just some support and patience, it can take a while for the process. As I said these are not stock, or open sale items.
The items usually offered are Men's and women's Short Sleeve Jersey, Men's and Women's Long Sleeve Jersey, Men's and Women's Shorts or Bib Shorts, Wind Breaker Jacket, Wind Vest. I believe this is everything we have had available.I would have to check with Curtis on this, and about Arm and leg warmers, tights, caps, etc, if there is interest in such. Its up to all of you, and to Curtis, I am not stepping on his toes, or trying to push him aside, he does a tremendous job on these things, its beautiful kit.

That's a great summary. I'm really glad I started the original post, and hope that Curtis sees it, and if not, that you (or someone else with an interest) takes on this project. I believe that we would easily get enough orders, at least I'd like tot think so. I know I'd order two jerseys at least - a long sleeve and a short sleeve. While I understand the sentiment of getting 60+ or other jerseys, I also understand the expense involved in making exceptions and I'm happy, delighted actually, to order the original - the one and only - 50+ jersey.
I wore mine the other day and (as usual) someone along the way gave it a compliment. It's my favorite jersey and I don't want to wear it out by wearing it too often!

I went ahead and sent Curtis a PM about the interest in a group buy for 50+ kit, I really hope that he has the time, and inclination, to work on this group buy request.

+1 on Curtis, the quality and design of the kit, and the amount of effort and self-sacrifice that I know Curtis must put forth. I've ordered kit from him on three occasions - twice in the 50+ forum, and once in the NorCal forum: no complaints about anything. I wouldn't hesitate about sending him money based "on his word".

FWIW, I'd like another 50+ jersey.
It's a lot of work, keeping everthing straight and making sure folks get what they ordered. I wouldn't mind if Curtis added a buck or two or three to each order for himself.
It would be still worth the price for a unique bit of kit.

Agreed, it would be well worth it and perhaps help him out also.

I am waiting for Curtis to contact me, probably he will respond here, he asked for some time since he is pretty busy at this time. Its best to let him get squared away at the end of an academic year.
Bill
Edit: I think I have said far too much in the thread, I edited much of this reply out. My apologies for getting too wordy, and for stepping in on things.

Another good piece of info, Bill. One of the takeaways is that I need to put on my patience panties. Not a problem. This kit is well worth waiting for!

Can someone link a picture? I just joined this exclusive club last year and I certainly wouldn't mind advertising it.

I heard from Curtis, we are working out something, possibly. Please be patient about the group buy coming together. No idea as to a price, shipping costs to US, or Canada, or ???, as nothing has been put in motion other than our swapping P.M.'s, right now. If and when things come together, a post, with details on how to order, and how to pay for it, shipping details, etc, will be made. Until things get sorted this is the last I'll post, until decisions are made.
And, to the best of my knowledge, Curtis will keep the jersey design as is, only the shorts need to be changed, as I understand it.

Dan, it was that very picture that got me searching the web for the 50+ jersey. I was so disappointed when I finally realized that they were no longer available. I'm in for everything but the shorts. Ride recumbent. Don't need the padding.

Definitely interested in a jersey - just tell me how much and where and when to send in the money!
