Birthday, maybe rode my age, anyway 1st 100 mile week in 20+ years

71 today. At the beginning of the year/season (May 1), I had hoped to ride 72 miles by the end of July, but the weather has not cooperated -colder, wetter, and windier than usual. Besides, I no longer seem to be able to ride every day ... I need more recovery time than daily rides allow. So I changed my goal to 72 km - age + 1 to grow on - just under 45 miles. Do km count for rding one's age in countries that measures distance primarily in miles?

At 24.1 miles (as my computer displayed), I stopped for a snack. Unfortunately, as is its wont, the @#$%ed computer locked up after the snack, and stayed locked for 50 minutes. Even assuming my speed during that interval was 15% slower than than the average for the rest of the trip, though, I hit the 72+ km/45 mile mark.

With a 32 mile ride (previous high for the 21st century) on Sunday and 26 miles on Tuesday, this is my 1st 100+ mile week since 1991. I'm looking forward to the rest of the year.

Congratulations on the distance, both for you age ride, and for the weeks cumulative total. Most importantly Happy Birthday!

Happy belated B-day and nicely done. Meters-miles, makes no difference. IMO, all that maters is having the desire to ride and then following through to completion.

71 in base-8 is 57. 57 kilometers is 35 miles. Being physically fit and enjoying life at 71 is the birthday gift. Continued strength and health!

Thanks all. My bike is from 1973, so I'm resurrecting my 1982-ish Cateye Solar computer today or tomorrow.
