Every day is pie day. But only if I bake it myself. The last pie day was black raspberry from the backyard. If you mean PI, never mind.

National pie day is 1/23/16. Think a home made pecan pie would be good on that day.

Or do you mean the Ride for Pie day? It's September or October as I recall. But it varied. DenverFox was the leader on that.

That's the one I was wondering about. 50+ is becoming a little too serious for my taste.

I always thought pie day was the day when, as I get off my bike, I think "I'd like a piece of pie right now!"

It all depends. The one mentioned on PBS recently is held in Braham, MN and you missed it. This year's date was 8/7/2015. https://pieday.com/index2.html

I had a slice (too big) of cherry pie for dessert and rode 7mi around town due to caloric guilt.

3rd Saturday in September. 9/19
"The Annual Pie Ride takes place the 3rd Saturday of Sept. Riders are required to do at least a 15-mile ride with a stop for pie along the way. Recommended pie is blueberry, but any berry pie will do. Otherwise, any pie will do in a pinch, but one does not get as many points."

Back a few years, Stapfam would post what the year's date for 50+ Pie Day would be. The third Saturday in September sounds about right, BD has a link attached, in his post above. We used to post pics of at least the pie slice we had after our ride, better if you posted a picture of you, with your bicycle near by.
Some members get really bent out of shape about mentioning pie here (no names please), so it kind of fell by the way side. Personally, I am all for bring it back to the forum like we used to have it posted.

It is an annual 50+ forum BIKE event for a number of members here, so why wouldn't it be promoted and posted here? If one chooses not to participate or read the thread, none of the participants would care. Why would anyone care if others do? Moreover, why would anyone need to post that they don't like it and won't participate? No one cares.

I guess I missed the controversy. Whatever. Can't see how posting about an annual tradition of an excuse to ride and eat could be a big deal to anyone, but people are people. Maybe a steady stream of posts about pie that aren't related to bike riding could get annoying.

I must have been thinking, however subconsciously, about the pie ride when I ate 2 pieces of pie last night. The 1st apple-elderberry alamode and the 2nd banana cream. Practice, practice, practice!
