28 miles in December in Maine!
Had thought the season was over but here we are in December and the next few days are looking food for cycling.
The longer I can ride my bike outside instead of in the basement the better I like it. A bit chilly starting out but by the time I got home I felt fine. Working on 2700 miles since April. |
Nice! I'm a few hundred miles south in CT, planning on going out both days this weekend. Supposed to be in the 50's both days!

Cool! Unfortunately its already over for me here up in the 'County'. We got a few inches of wet, sticky snow last night, but I'd already given it up. Seems like I can do most anything in the cold except ride a bike! Been inside on the trainer starting through a TrainerRoad mid-volume base plan. Between Base, Build, and Specialized phases, it should take me up to April'ish or perhaps May, when it should be possible to get out on the roads again (with some degree of comfort). If I don't go crazy from Cabin fever.......or Trainer fever, before then!

I draw the line now at 40 deg. or so on the road. When I was younger (40) I was OK at 25. At that temp, the clothing required costs more then some folks spend on bikes though !.
Mt. Biking on wooded single track I have no trouble with, slower so less wind chill, in the woods, I'm good down to 12-15 or so. |
Winter bikes primary now but still gots road bike in the queue hopin' for a few more chances to ride it this year.

?? The riding season ends?? I usually keep going outside all year long. That's why they make studded snow tires for bikes, LOL!!

Alright, pics or it didnt happen.

I'll be heading out soon for a club ride, advertised as "25-35 miles." This time of year, they're hit-and-miss as to whether or not the weather will cooperate.
Edit: I ended up with 32 miles. The long-range forecast says next weekend will be even warmer, so I may get another bonus weekend ride in! |
Just got back from an 18miler up the lakeshore of gorgeous Lake Charlevoix. That's me with the hotshot Trek 760. You cant touch this.....

So I finished up the week with a total of 51 miles. Had thought of going out today but too many chores at home. Besides that will just give me more incentive to take a nice long ride tomorrow when the weather is again supposed to be nice. Think my bike is saying enough already! Isn't it time for my yearly rest and tuneup? Still lookin good though after 15000 miles plus since I bought it in 2010.

Here in sw Wi. its predicted to be in the 50's today. Unfortunate that the winds are gusting up to 30mph. Really unfortunate that I had a cinnamon roll and two cups of strong coffee this A.M.. I now have a serious caffeine and sugar buzz going that demands action. I'm hoping the rail trail has dried enough that it's rideable.

Loving it.

It'll be 71F on Sunday afternoon in SW Ohio, with 57F as the low on Saturday night. The average high for this time of year is 42F. I'll need to get my bike shorts out of storage!
Then it heads back to normal temperatures next week. From weatherspark.com http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=492689 |
