Time for a new bike
I saw that Performance Bike has big sales going on-- as usual-- but, with the income tax refund being what it is, I have lots of extra money to put toward some recreational activities. So... I am thinking of a Fuji Absolute 1.1D (which has the Shimano 105 group). It's $899 right now. For the same price, there is a Fuji Roubaix 3 LE (essentially, an 19.5 lb roady with Shimano Tiagra group. It's about three pounds lighter than the Absolute and a nice bike over all. So, Now it's time to decide if I want the racing geometry or the upright posture of the Absolute.
The other option is save a bit of money and go for the Sportif 2.5 with rat-trap pedals. The weight is roughly the same as the Absolute and it has Claris components. I'd save about $350 if I go that route and since I don't race these days, it is likely I'd enjoy it and just bank the extra bucks.
So, I'll just kick these thoughts around a bit.
BTW... I've been way to busy with writing books and articles over the last year and have not been on the forum much. So, howdy gang.

What are you going to use the bike for? You say the Roubaix has the same feel as when you used to race. Is that position going to still be comfy for you now? Not sure when you used to race but bodies change. Just a thought.
