Trifecta ride

Today was a great day. I rode a 56 year old bike--my Olmo Gran Sport--56 miles on the Great Western Trail which heads south from my fair city of Des Moines, :). The bike was built right around 1960. The parts are all almost all original (not the saddle and I replaced the tubulars with more or less period correct clinchers) and they date from 1960 or a bit before even. This is the build thread on the bike: http://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vi...ran-sport.html

The gearing can be challenging in hills with a 49/46 up front and a 13/26 in the rear. That gives a pretty decent half step gearing and it pushed the envelope for the technology of the day in terms of gearing.

The route was mainly flat and pretty. The MUP got emptier as we headed out of town towards Martinsdale IA.

Only one flat and it happened as I got home. Doesn't get much better than that when it comes to a flat tire, :).

Here's the bike. The paint, chrome, and decals are in remarkable shape for a bike this old. It's made of falck tubing (it's chrome moly steel) and has campy drop outs.

Looks to be a special ride. Love the chromed socks.
Time trial stem on a roadie must mean you are as flexible as you once were.
