Heat & Hills !

Being that I'm an old Clydesdale I still enjoy spending a day with a bunch of climbing. Throw in the heat and humidity and it really make's me happy riding my bike. As I was speaking with a fellow rider early in the season when it was 55 degrees and I was wearing leg and arm warmers I should be living in the desert.

Are you riding on the highway?

Unless they allow cars on their bike paths.

Good to see another open road roadie. I've done a hill ride in 95deg heat. Had to take a cold shower when I got home.

No, just a nice road up to the Airport.

A cold shower was a welcome guest when I got home.

LOL, I stumbled on this sitting here contemplating a 25 mile CAT 1 Climb of Monte Cristo. You know, since it's only going to be in the low 90s tomorrow.

Just wondering if I give the Ventoux a try on this one since it's now got a Compact Double or be daring and take the Antares with its' 42/52T crank and 13-23 6 speed freewheel. Hopefully in the morning I'll come to my senses and take up one of the modern and light 11 speed setups.

Living in the desert; commuted to work daily.
Warmest ride: 117 degrees with 2% humidity . . .
Qwityerbellyachin'!

Sheesh! How fast are you going? Makes my 12-15 mph pace on our hilliest route seem like a cruise, even on our recent 100+F days. And we don't really have any long continuous climbs, just roller coasters with gradual climbs over a period of miles.

here in Virginia they have had trouble with cars getting on the capitol trail bike path. They asked one guy why he did it and he said "there are no signs saying cars keep off". :roflmao2:

The humidity has been pretty high this week in the midwest. I'll be heading out on a 50 mile ride tomorrow and it's going to have a fair number of hills. On a hot and muggy day, I like bringing a camelbak. I like using the small ones that hold 50 ounces. I'll fill it full of ice and I'll have cold water for most of the ride.

Nice Vid...

You split lanes about 1:11 minutes.

Is that legal in your state?

For some strange reason, my average commute speed goes up when the temps are above 90. I think maybe it's compensation to increase the cooling wind speed past my body.
