On to Douglas!!
Another 80 miles from Natrona to Douglas, Wy. The first 55 miles were charming but that last 25 miles was pretty tough. Headwinds were 20 mph gusting to about 30 mph. The bulk of those last miles was on I25. And it wasn't flat either.

I got hungry after 30 miles and I looked to my right and there was an iHop! Yeah....my wife corrected me on that as well. Faster than Cheetah. I loved seeing them jump fences. |

Nice! We were in and around the Casper area just two weeks ago. I'm really surprised that they didn't stop you when riding on the interstate. Then again, I think I only saw two patrol cars on the road the whole time we were there.

On a local Boston thread, a tandem cyclist posts prolifically, with photos of his smiling wife/stoker, but I never read a quote by her, as if a “silent partner.” I did get to meet them in person, and they are a lovely couple. BTW I just read on the current John Kerry thread on Fifty-Plus, that SAG = Support and Gear. I always thought that it meant, well…sag, as in sagging rider. :o |

It is legal for Cyclists to use the interstates in Wyoming. It's not in the State where I live but where I live you can ride other roads without adding much mileage. That's not the case in Wyoming...

Nice trip
Some folks from the east don't have much of a clue about the mountain west. I remember years ago a usenet post regarding the closing of I-70 over a mtn pass and why everyone could not get anywhere. He suggested that folks just take the farm roads in the area!! Anyway, I-25 and I-70 have many areas where bicyclists are allowed because there simply is no other way to get there. One of the activities my wife enjoys is posting a summary of each day with pics on Facebook. I monitor those, and even share them which keeps me from having to do the same. So far she seems to be really enjoying the experience. She's also able to touch base with our kids and her parents via phone daily which helps. I think we're both excited about getting back home and spending more time with our new grandson!! My daughter sends us fresh videos and pictures daily so we can see all his changes and growth. I'm very, very lucky to have a wife that is willing to do this and still keep her sanity.....
After we settled in Boston in a temporary rooming house the camera was stolen and we lost pictures of the final days’ ride through Virginia, and our entry into DC. :( We sent postcards back to friends and family to include thank-you notes from the wedding…another off-the-bike activity...Ayup... :50: |
