What a nice trail. Really like your image. Makes the bridge look a lot more compact and shorter than it actually is.

I ride that trail quite frequently. Where did you begin and end?

I thought that might be the case the first time I approached the bridge. Being 130' above the Raccoon River I figured it would make an interesting crossing but the staggered rotation of the steel structures don't cause any disorientation.

Great pics; I enjoy riding it as well.

Since I'm also one of the lucky ones that live near this trail, I need to finally see it at night with the lights going strong. Love to see the tourism the trail generates.

We started in Ankeny, rode to the bridge and then back to meet our spouses at Madrid. We live in western Colorado, and this trail was one I particularly wanted to ride. It was beautiful, and thirty miles of flat is astonishing. See my blog entry for other pictures.

We were in Ankeny Labor Day weekend for the Midwest Tandem Rally (300+ teams) and rode the High Trestle twice. First Friday evening riding from Madrid to Woodward and back and then again on Sunday as part of a 62 mile ride. Since I have some fear of heights, we didn't stop out on the bridge to take a look but we did ride the length of it three times. Amazing bridge and trail. And, lots and lots of trails in the Des Moines area.
