Brake Upgrade

Guys, I have a 80's Torpado road bike with Universal levers/brakes. I'd like to upgrade to aero brake lever/hoods like the TRP RRL SR and upgrade with dual pivot brakes. What model Campagnolo brake set that would fit this bill?

Probably best to enter this in the C&V thread,

If you value safety, get KoolStop salmon-colored pads. I endorse them wholeheartedly and refuse to use anything else. Don't forget low-compression cable housings, while you are at it.

As long as you can deal with the increased travel, the aero levers are a good step, because they will boost your leverage by about 10%.

Thanks John. I'll give that a try.

I'd get inexpensive Shimano 105 brakes from ebay. Pair them with Tektro aero levers. I assume you are using bar-end or down tube shifters.

I'm assuming you're trying to get a close match with components already on the bike, so as mentioned, your best bet on specific models would be to ask in the C&V forum.

I'd be looking a lot on e-bay also. If you're not trying to match a specific groupset it shouldn't take too long to find Campy brakes with aero levers.

edit...Just out of curiosity, I checked E-bay, pulled up "Campagnolo brakes" and there were lots of listing of what you're looking for.

Being Campy, get ready to pay.

amen to that. It has Campy Nuovo Record DRs front and rear so I'd prefer to keep the other components the same--for sure the brakes. Thanks much.

Universal Way Back had a longer reach rear and a Much shorter reach front,

In order to use any of the old (now C&V )Campag single pivot brakes, the center drop bolt was Made ..
