Triple FD recommendations

While I know I could be posting this in Mechanics or C&V subs, I wonder what solution any here have used with this problem. My days of pushing with a 42/52 are coming to an end due to an abundance of separate orthopedic issues.

I picked up a nice Sugino triple and matching bottom bracket in the vintage sales thread. There's an 20 tooth difference between smallest and largest chainring.

My 83 Stan Pike is (28.6mm seat tube and friction DT shifter levers) could be fitted with the triple, but neither current RD or FD has capacity for the triple. I don't really care about period correctness and aesthetics is secondary to me - I just want to continue to use the bike without doing a complete restomod.

Any suggestions about which FD and RD I should use? I'd be grateful for any input. I should have included the RD in the thread title.

IRD triple front; you'll need an adapter since this is for a braze on.

Plus this will look right on an old bike.

You can pick up a micro shift long cage RD as that comes in silver as well.

I use a Suntour cyclone on one bike and Suntour VX on another up front, both with triples with 20 tooth differences and both do an admirable job. In the back I use Suntour VxGT's which I've used with great success with 9 speed cassettes up to 36 teeth in the back. Going vintage wasn't an issue. I had them and they work. I actually found the VxGT to shift better in back than a newer Ultegra and Deore (I think it was).

My Novara Randonee came with a Shimano Deore 48/36/26 Crankset, a Shimano Deore LX FD and a Shimano Deore XT RD.

The rear cassette is a Shimano HG62, 11-34, 10-speed.

Everything works smoothly.

I hope this helps.

+1 for the Deore triple front DR, they're the bee's knees for compact triples
