60 is the new 40 ...
miles, that is. I retired in May, and all my rides seem to have become about 50% longer. Easy rides went from 15 to 25 miles, medium rides go 50 miles now instead of 30, and my long rides are up to 80. I'm still working up to being able to randomly do century rides on any given day, but it's getting there (yes, jppe is my role model). With the exception of the smoke from wildfires here in the Western U.S., this has been a great summer for cycling.

Your thread title gave me a moment of panic. Thought someone was going to make me go back to work!

Isn't that like km to miles.... or visa versa....
So your new century ride should be 160 miles :thumb: |
I've got a birthday coming up. I hear that 75 is the new 74. :)

Inspiring! Love Elocs' post as well. Any riding is good riding.
My best riding buddy is two years shy of 60, and he rides more than he ever did in miles, including a few centuries a year. His speed actually is fairly quick for his age, and he climbs well too - being skinny still. He doesn't really seem to push it, he's just riding more, and thus longer. |
I am one of the super fortunate persons. I will be 80 next year, and it looks like in my case 80 is the new 60. I lay much of this good fortune to the fact that I am a cyclist.
