Photos from 5 hour test ride on Lynskey GR260
I chose to ride on the New River Trail in Va to do a longish test ride on the new bike. It's flattish with no cars so a good place to experiment with the fit. I rode for about 3 hours and my wife joined me for the last 2 hours. We needed two vehicles which worked out great for us as she was heading that direction anyway. The first direction I rode was into a good headwind and at a slight uphill grade of 1-2% which was a great workout!!!
The only tweak I made was to rotate the bars up about 1-2 mm so my hands felt more flat on the hoods of the shifters. Needless to say it's a very nice riding bike. The New River Trail is a rails to trail path. It is about 55 miles in length and runs from Pulaski to Galax, with a 5 mile side spur to Fries. At some point I plan to do the entire trail out and back in one day, but I didn't have time to do that this week. It mostly follow along the New River and it about 20 minutes north of the NC/Va state line. It actually crosses under I77. The path is for cycling, hiking and horses. It's a mix of crushed stone and dirt. I will say that when I was going over hoof prints I definitely noticed it. My wife mentioned the same thing. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4706/...c7802fef_z.jpgIMG_0592 by joe price, on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4748/...c13091a4_z.jpgIMG_0595 by joe price, on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4661/...064797e9_z.jpgIMG_0593 by joe price, on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4631/...9d6e4527_z.jpgIMG_0590 by joe price, on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4649/...fb0eacc3_z.jpgIMG_0587 by joe price, on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4676/...feb5776e_z.jpgIMG_0585 by joe price, on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4710/...b5748af6_z.jpgIMG_0614 by joe price, on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4669/...e8be2742_z.jpgIMG_0582 by joe price, on Flickr |

Great pics Joe, that part of Va is a beautiful place. We have driven through it on I-77 headed up to Northampton, Ma. My family is from the Norfolk area originally (fraternal side.)

Nice pics! What size tires were you using and did you feel over-tired, under-tired or just right?

Nice scenery, a little brown this time of year, but nice.
Congrats on the new wheels! |
Nice, what a great place to ride!

Beautiful rail trail and two happy riders. Nothing better than that!

Curious as to how the shifting compares to your road bike, as the Lynskey has cables
in housing all the way from the brifter to the deraillers. Really nice to have the wife along even for part of the ride. Looks like a great R-T. |
That looks like a very comfortable bike.

I was on a tour a few years ago on my road bike and the standard where the cable housing stops at the top of the down tube decided to just break off. The only remedy was to run cable housing all the way from the shifter to the rear derailleur. It shifted really well that way. I was tempted to just leave it that way but eventually I had a new standard riveted to the frame. I still don’t have the FD perfectly adjusted. I’m getting some chain rub on the 3 hardest gears. |
Very nice pics, thanks for posting. Enjoyed it.

that's a decent test ride! :thumb: looks like the riding surface is good, dry & hard as opposed to wet, sticky & slow? 100 mile round-trip unpaved trail sounds like a little bit of heaven!

Nice bike, nice ride.

Thank you for the pictures. It was the last bit of incentive to place my order for a GR260 . I hope to have it in my hands shortly .

Still waiting for my GR260.
Is that a SKS S-Board front fender? I would be running 700x40 tires. I also have the SKS XL for the rear and I really like it. It’s very easy to install. I also bought some alloy fenders but haven’t installed them https://handsomecycles.com/products/black-fenders |
New Bike Day-Lynskey GR260 arrived

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...1583f1645b.jpg The bike arrived last night. I am quite happy with the quality. I think FedEx was offended by the "fragile" sticker on the box, but the unit arrived without damage. I took it out for test ride, returned home to fight a tight link in the new chain. I will spend the rest of the weekend going over the bike with a magnifying glass. Really nice bike. Happy camper |
might have missed it but what size and brand tires are you riding? awesome riding and scenery:)

Great photos, and beautiful bike!
