I hope your BP med is not a beta blocker. They keep your heart form beating to pump blood when needed cycling. I was on them it it almost killed me. Check with you MD. There is another alternative. There are meds that dilate your veins and arteries and I'm told these are much better. I've been using 100% beet juice which seems to help.

Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors are high blood pressure drugs that widen or dilate the blood vessels to improve the amount of blood the heart pumps and to lower blood pressure. ... Examples of ACE inhibitors include: Capoten (captopril) Vasotec (enalapril)

I try to not weigh in more than once or maybe twice a week for progress but last night I saw that I’ve lost 3 lbs in 4 days. Whoa, too much. I really do not want more than 3 pounds per week. Otherwise, good progress, lots of hills and good training going on. I’m 5’9 with a meso frame, fast-twitch muscle groups etc. The best part is acceleration and speed becomes enhanced.

I hate to say it but if you live in the U.S. I really don't think losing too much weight should ever be an issue for the vast majority of the population. Well maybe unless you're in the 2%-3% region?

Too much, too fast is usually the result of some sort of diet that is temporary and not sustainable. Changing your daily and long term diet brings slower and sustainable weight loss. It's a matter of changin your way of living not just your way of eating. FWIW....I know I'm preaching to the choir, OldsCOOL.

I was 219 on July 19. Today I am 176. There are four rules to lose weight. The whole multi-billion dollar weight loss industry is based on these rules. They are : (1) Eat leads junk; (2) Eat more food stuff; (3) Eat less overall; (4) Add exercise. The goal is to change habits, not to loose weight fast. I weigh myself every day. For a while I wrote down everything I ate until I got a good feel for how many calories different thing are. I really expect never to go back.

One oddity I'm noticing when taking sugar/carbs out of diet a few weeks ago, in addition to losing a pound or two a week, is that my post ride BP drops another 20 points or so, to the level I'm thinking of halving my daily does of BP medicine (lisinopril 10mg) for a week or two to see if BP gets back up to a level where I don't feel out of it in the afternoons. While I was a 25+ mile a day commuter for many years, I'm now working from home and usually take a 14-15 mile lap during the lunch hour. Historically, about an hour post-ride, I might score 110-120 over 75-80, but now I'm seeing 88-90 over 58-60 and while I'm not unconscious at that level, I don't feel very active either.

Cycling is wonderfully beneficial in so many areas and aspects of physical and emotional well-being. My younger Doc says I am not in any of his University “study groups”. So when he says “the studies show...” he chuckles and says “you are a physical anomaly”. I wont be needing statins or oxidase inhibitors anytime soon and he also says that stress tests arent needed because I have them every week. I thank God for His wonderful grace on my health and for this passion to ride.

Cancer took 35lbs from me last year, but I gained back 40. Doctors said "good job", but I wanted to stop at 25. Too much sitting around in a wheelchair with nothing to do but eat. Started riding again this Spring and am finally starting to drop some weight. So, 163 to 135 to 170, now 158 , and hoping for 150.
When racing motorcycles in the 90's, someone said 7lbs was equal to 1horsepower. Not sure how that translates to watts, but it's definitely easier to carry less.

The studies on weightloss and riding are real and can be felt. Very noticeable, even just 5lbs to us lighter guys especially.
The hotrodders from 20+ years ago used the 14lbs=1hp rule. Motorcycles would be even more contrasting as you stated.

Well so far the additional 3 day/week 24 hour fast appear to be working. Although the fat loss changes are subtle they are nonetheless noticeable. I choose to let the mirror, rather than the scale, be my weight loss guide since that's a much better indicator and doesn't tend to mess with your head as much.
As a dull disclosure, I should admit that I've also instituted carbs cycling into my routine as well. Hopefully within the next 8 weeks, if this rate continues, I will have achieved my Spring 2018 weight loss goal. Good luck to all.
