Back bikin* after 20 or so years.
Hi guys. I turned 63 last fall and have jumped back in with both feet.
one would think living on Phoenix for the last ten years would have been a great place to get back into biking but no, this rocket scientist had to wait for a move back to Maine and with winter about to start for the bug to bite. Go figure ...Steve

Nothing wrong with Maine (well it's cold right now, yeah). I wiped out just outside Waldoboro a long time ago, but I miss those roads. I remember we'd ask directions and th locals would say "it's just over that knee-hill" and when we finished gasping for air we'd realize they never climbed it on anything but a pick-up truck.
Anyway, good riding. I

Friend of mine has a house up in Maine and I've gone up there to sail up and down the coast in the summers. One of the things that impressed me along the coastal parts of Maine were the number of people cycling and the small towns and villages that have more bike shops in a few blocks than is in the whole metropolitan area of the biggest city in my state.
So while you might have some issues adjusting to the cold weather riding, you shouldn't have an excuse for not riding when it thaws out up there.
Enjoy it. I'm a little envious I can't get up there to cycle. My friend only sails.

Welcome back. I'm one year into my return after 15 years off the bike. It feels great to feel strong and fit again...and 40 lbs lighter. Enjoy your journey.
