Holy cow, I'm turning 60 today
I never expected to live this long. But I did.
Going to do my b-day ride tomorrow. It's a good thing I banked 7 miles from last years ride.

Congrats on making that big achievement point. Take real care as you progress on, but there is still a heap of stuff left to do in life... including cycling (and just seeing OTG's post as I just finished mine, check out his other posts and check how he has gone making some huge achievements).

I know that feeling. I've said the same thing every year since I turned 50: Never expected to live this long.
Then circumstances keep conspiring to try to make that come true. But here I am, still.

One good thing about getting older is that one's birthday rides get a bit longer every year. I like the OP's idea of banking miles from the birthday ride from the year before, 
I also like the idea of having a bike manufactured on or about the year of your birth to take out on a birthday ride.

congrats! & I hear ya, I lost several friends the past recent years. my Dad will be 92 this summer but I doubt I'l last THAT long! I'm a cpl months behind ya! how was your ride? how's the weather down there?

Feeling 60 is about like feeling 59. We're having a cold snap (for Tucson), so I bundled up as well as I could and got 30 in before my brain reminded me it will be in the mid 70's this weekend. That is a much better temp to ride a b-day ride around here.

Happy Birthday late and I hope you have many more. I turned 70 this past October and got back on bikes about two and a half years ago. My pressure is down and so is my weight so if you want to have a chance fof better years ahead try to keep active. Riding, walking, elliptical, what ever the weather or my back will allow. Bought a second bike about three months ago so I figure I am going to ride until I can't anymore.

I don't know if it will make you feel any better, but according to HUD regulations, you won't be classified as "elderly" until you reach age 62. And then comes Social Security at 65.

Since I didn't feel any different post b-day than before, I guess I have this stuff handled now. I just started working out for a charity ride in late March that will be on roads I've wanted to ride, so I'm hoping that works out.

Hope you had a good one. Just passed 61 myself. I went to school in Tucson and it seems like so long ago. I gather it's a much larger city now.

5 more years to Medicare - I never thought 65 was something to look forward to, but at 67 I've come to decide it's the best thing ever.

Welcome to the club! I joined 6 years ago. The summer before I joined, I rode the Crater Lake week of Cycle Oregon on my brand new fix gear because I still could. My last hurray. Didn't work. I've ridden 4 more Cycle Oregons since fixed, always longing to go back to the Crater. This year it's back and I am signed up (as well as for 3 more rides, two of which are extreme. (I love the freedom of reasonable health insurance and retirement.)
