Back in the 70's, I owned a Mobil full-service gas station (when we actually repaired automobiles rather than sold deli sandwiches!) A Corvette customer of mine would always bring me his cars to work on and started calling me "DrDyno" after the "dynamometer," a test stand used to set up racing engines. I've been DrDyno ever since!

Early 70’s living in Del Mar California and riding a lot on my PX10, sew ups don’t you know. A certain college student thought it would be fun to get as many free magazine subscriptions as possible. Used to be easy, fill out the post card with some fake information and mail it in. I needed a name and settled on Joe Bikerider. The magazines poured in. Lots of fun. It all kind of fell apart when two guys in suits knocked at the door one afternoon. FBI? No, they were salesmen from a local truck driving school that Joe had apparently filled out a card for! Pretty embarrasing. So I dialed back on the magazines but the name lives on. And I got rid of the sew ups also after I blew out two within 100 yards of my house. $20 each was way more than a college student could afford. Clement
real silk don’t you know. The PX10 lives on.

Mine comes from the fact that when I laugh, I look exactly like Sam the Snowman from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. When I used to race motorcycles, I even had his face stitched to the back of my leathers. The nickname just stuck.

Got back into cycling by commuting to work, got rear ended and was pretty sore after a flip and landing on the curb on my back, or, 35 years of work as a garbageman...take your pick.

When I'm on my bike, I'm "cage free" (pun intended--I'm sure you know, but a car is sometimes referred to as a "cage").

IronM is short for "Iron Mike", one of my nicknames. Something to do with my riding style during the glory years...

I was/am "Curveman" on a number of other forums related to archery and bowhunting and admittedly was initially used as a double entendre of sorts. It might've fit here too but I think it was taken. Curves of a bow, curves in a road, curves of a woman. I am admirerer of all those lines, sincerely and respectfully. Longbowsafari reflected my bow, my journey and used here more spur of the moment. How's that for weird?! LOL!

Mad Honk is from back in the early 90's when I worked in retail liquor sales. Most of my close friend called me "Honk", short for my unpronounceable last name (which is by most standards a racial slur). My manager thought my sales techniques were out of the ordinary and one night in frustration called me "Mad" he then added You're Mad Honk!, and the moniker stuck. I've been using it for the last thirty years and it still rings true. Smiles, MH

I got back into road cycling about four years ago after a 25 year absence and noticed just how damned competitive recreational cyclists can be.
I referred to them as CAT6 racers and decided I could be a CAT7 and just enjoy cycling for the pure joy.

The obvious part of my username is that I am an old bloke.
The trouble is my real name is not Gerry.
But I am stuck with it now.

Mine is a name I got years ago and relates to my VW.... it's old, but not slow. Most find out the hard way.
