Our town has good routes through 25mph zones. I deliberately ride at night so drivers see my lights. If I do my part, they do theirs. Riding up to intersections the drivers are incredibly courteous. We live in a bike friendly town of 4,000.
I remember years ago, it was pretty common to have light issues in cold temperatures (batteries not liking to work very well) ... have they figured that one out? |

https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c70004cb71.jpg when I was a commuter (& had a smaller battery) I wrapped it in bubble wrap & stuck it in an empty bottle https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...21b03d69b1.jpg |

Nice ride! I like your route. That is the weather we had just recently and hopefully wont again this spring. Today was a sunny 49 and had the Cannondale Criterium Series out for some hill rides.

Spitting snow yesterday and this morning. Looking like it’s 45-65deg on the 15day. Maybe just maybe today was our last chilly day. Grabbed the Cdale Crit and rode for a bit more than an hour. My toes were getting cold, it was a cloudy 39deg.

Went for a snowride this evening. Yup. May 8, or is it March 8? The blustery, stiff North wind froze my face like anything January could do. Nonsense, I tell ya. Pretty much goes along with this surreal shutdown season. I think spring is locked down here in N Michigan.

walking w/ Wifey, we just got dark clouds, crazy wind & barely enough snow to see it & feel it on my nose today
|
Snow flurries in the morning and snow squalls in the afternoon with a stinging wind the entire day. So it was off with the fat bike for some fun around the campground and lake area.

I was digging out some of my winter gear in May, ya this year has started weird.
Thank God that has passed. Today, near 80 and hitting the open road. |
Here we go...another snowrider’s season is upon us. Wow, that was quick. Winter bike (‘89 Trek 830 Antelope) is ready to go with new crankset and BB, headlight charged, clothes set aside and now nust waiting for this incessant rain to stop. Temps at night have been in the 30s. Oh and it’s archery deer season.

This should be the winter of the studded tires! Sitting or standing in crowded buses, subways or trams during the wet cold season is not a good idea now. The city of Oslo is giving folks here half of what they pay for studded tires and money to get them put on in bikeshops! I bike to work all year round anyhow and I am trying to motivate my colleagues to start now.

Riding in the preserve in the snow.
https://i.imgur.com/FGqBwfF.jpg My town had a contest for calendar pictures and I won Miss January ;) https://i.imgur.com/vVNCbLj.jpg |
Last night I did a 10miler on the 30# Schwin...er, Trek...Antelope. No wind, plenty of sleet and miles of solitude in the dark on a freshly paved 7mi stretch. Still early for snow to accumulate and settle in, that will be more like late Nov into Dec. It won’t be long now.
|
Here it is mid-January and have had bare pavement all winter season. Great for riding on our steep hills around town and outlying areas. Just 6 more weeks and it’s time to transist to spring training.

The White Knight! Here in Michigan aka Tip Of The Mitt region got a dumping of 2ft of snow in 36hrs. Been too busy with snow removal but this next week shows snow ending and I’ll be ready to go! Sure glad to have the timeless JD140 w/blower attachment to move mountains. |
