I can see that. One time I was climbing an 11is mile climb and there was a guy outside playing drums. He was really good and I could hear him for a long time as it carried through the canyon. My cadence timed with the drumbeat for a while and it was amazing.

The next link is to a piece on the popular end of the scale. I don't know what genre it fits into. Some where between country and rock. I like the music but especially like the chemistry between the performers. They clearly are having a great time. The guitarist is very good with numerous you tube videos.

Oh this is passive, fave band naming, video link posting, not playing a musical instrument & making your own.

My taste in music has changed over the years....
Forever a Beatles fan,loved most 60's rock
Gone thru Beach Boys, Motown,Country phases....Even developed a profound appreciation for Karen Carpenter's voice...
When I had my multi amped sound system in my van, I got into the bass-rich tunes of Elton John and Madonna......
Now, just pretty much anything from the 60's and some 70's.........

Now, just pretty much anything from the 60's and some 70's.........
In my youth, I still remember running out of my grandparents front room, with my hair figuratively on fire, whenever they turned the channel to watch the program.

Old farts music
Hey man,
Indeed, his birthplace is a notable attraction on
I have even attended two live Welk touring performances (after he died) with regular cast members from the 70's, e.g. Myron Floren, Mary Lou Metzger, Ava Barber, etc. My story and I'm sticking to it.

...For music, I have listed my playlist on my profile page (on page 2), a couple hundred songs with about half Big Band tunes before 1950, and the rest Rock Golden Oldies, with about three songs after 1980...they just don’t make them like they used to...

I love riding to Pink Floyd! Geezer music? I don't care! Lol

Speaking of 60's and 70's......when flipping through the channels, and on certain occasions, I will briefly pause to watch Lawrence Welk, mostly to observe some of the nostalgia clothing of the day, and some of the songs.

...BTW, don't knock Lawrence Welk; he had good musicianship.
If you object to his tunes, IMO, Big Band standards (and Classic Rock) are great for cycling.

My wife and I are social ballroom dancers, and I have been an adult saxophone student, preferring Golden Oldies and the Big Bands.

Not sure why this song has been running through my head...so much so my 5 yo daughter now knows the lyrics.
I've been playing the bass line on my fender bass lately too. Man these guys were talented, they wrote it, sang it, played their instruments, and good looking chaps. They recorded a follow-up album then that was pretty much it for player. The bass player became an actor on a soap opera.

Thinking about the title for this thread inspired me to google "musical farts" Public Service Announcement: Don't. Just... don't...
Edit: I think I feel a bit nauseous right now...

This week:
The Stranglers -- I'd forgotten how good their early stuff was and how influential they were on later pop. Seems like many of my favorite movies have at least one Stranglers song in the soundtrack (Snatch, Sexy Beast, a few others).
System of a Down -- because the revolution has come around again.
Rage Against the Machine -- same reason.
Maria McKee, solo and with Lone Justice.
A bunch of jazz, from Bird to Brubeck.

Lately it's been Ween and Frank Zappa
Just yesterday the leader of a smaller group of musicians from the city band I'm in, informed me that "We're getting the band back together". The smaller group is usually a five piece sax group and we play a lot of traditional German music for the retirement homes. Some Dixie and Jazz as well.

Too many to name, where to start??
These masters are releasing a new recording. I hope to be able to see them if the clubs can reopen.
Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride, and Brian Blade:

Sometimes I take a Bluetooth speaker when I ride around Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and put John Coltrane and Eric Dolphy on on shuffle. What's cooler than riding down Central Park West listening to "Central Park West"?

<!--td {border: 1px solid #ccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->Since we are talking about old music, I'm going to fart here too, cos we are on the forum, and I don't have to apologize for that. I was a fan of Jimi Hendrix when I was a teenager, from around 14 to 18 years old. I was just crazy. His albums acted on me like the soundtrack of my life at the time. I was doing my homework, his music was playing, I met a nice girl, I was running home with my butt in love and listened to his music, during breakups the same thing. I did my homework and listened to Hendrix. I listened to Pink Floyd because that band had a hypnotic effect on me, and I couldn't do my homework any other way. What can I say, and now all the music is at best free royalty free sound effects on the stocks. All the gold was mined in the past...
