Since I turned 60 a couple of months ago and even before that I found that I can't listen to rock anymore. It just gives me a headache.
My taste in music nowadays is ambient trance, erethal wave, gothic, neo classical, new age, progressive and experimental, electronica, whatever innovative alternative stuff that interests me, etc.
Some examples are (in no particular order):

DOB 1949 here. One of my avocations is classical guitar and 1/8th (3 out of 24) of my current repertoire is by Francisco Tarrega (died 1909). That old enough? #2 on the list (2 pieces) is J. S. Bach (died 1750).
I have started doing my own arranging and my current (and/or future) list is Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen), For What Its Worth (Buffalo Springfield), Green Eyed Lady (Sugarloaf), She's Not There (Zombies), and I always thought that 'In a Gada Da Vida Sampler' would be interesting., But I am not going to do a 17 minute arrangement and I am NOT going to simulate a 4 minute drum solo by beating on my "probably costs more than your carbon fiber/di2 bike' classical guitar :-)

I have noticed a trend in people carrying small blue tooth speakers on their bike and pump the pedals to their jam, which I find is kinda funny. Hey, whatever floats your boat!

Eyeglass mirror notifies much earlier than ears -- FACT!!! In 5 hours I will be out shortly after midnight for A COMBINATION NEW MOON/DAUGHTER'S BIRTHDAY RIDE. My tunes will be playing, lights flashing and mirror helping to see approaching vehicles a mile behind. Pretty sure nobody here has bionic ears that will hear a vehicle a mile away.

The joggers all have earbuds. I don't see that I blame them, considering how boring it is to jog (personal opinion). But it makes it harder to share a MUP with them.

Apart from safety issues, I won't listen to music while I ride because it would interrupt the great mental unspooling that riding induces. My mind waneders, I process things from work and life. I get ideas.
You can't explain it to non-cyclist. How a 2 hour ride, a 4 hour ride, even more, can go by without ever being bored. YMMV, but it's my form of meditation. Music would just get in the way.

Yeah, another thing - if you're listening to tunes when you are riding, how do you listen to your bike? Can you hear those creaks, pops, th****, pings, and clacks which tell you that something isn't quite right?
