I agree with this, but would add the upright Trike option - I enjoy every minute on my upright adult Trike as much as I enjoyed bicycling. Sorry to be so late to the thread! I'm 68.

I don't know why but the idea of a velomobile came to mind reading this thread.

In my low 80s, I continue to ride. But, I have made some decisions about where I ride and under what conditions. I stay off the busy trails, and find places that are more isolated. I do not ride on the street, blessed with many other options. I have never broken anything related to the bike. I wish the op the very best in making some difficult decisions. Certainly an indoor bike or stationary bike or trainer or similar make a lot of sense. Best of luck.
