Old Guy Bling

I always liked the idea of personalized headcaps or other accessories, but could never decide on what I would put on one. Then I saw a young guy with a "Ride Fast or Die" jersey and it came to me.
Here's my old guy bling. Show us yours!

Had my jersey custom made. Matching bibs say "I'll get there eventually" across the backside.

If that guy is riding slow and relaxed, I need new lenses, but I like the premise.

If we are just talking top caps, here’s mine.

This is on my touring bike. Think about it. The “N” is a clue as is the flower.

This is an homage to my career of making alcohol out of the parts of plants usually not used to make alcohol.

On my Colorado made Dean.

My Moots top cap and barend plugs. It was a challenge to design the left one so that the “Moots” was in the proper location.

The bikes those top caps belong to are fairly “blingy” without the top caps. 1998 Nashbar Flashback. Lots of Paul components.

2010 Cannondale T1

2006 Cannondale T800. Don’t go looking for that color. It’s not original (not my work).

1999 Dean Colonel. Colorado made. Dean stem, Dean seatpost, Dean barends, King cages. Paul Klampers with Paul levers as well as other goodies.

1998 Moots YBB. Also made in Colorado. Moots post, Moots stem, Moots bar. Paul Klamper up front, Paul Motolite rear, Paul levers, Paul FHub and a rare Paul RHub (non disc for extra points)

I've got a little bling ... stuff like anodized parts that match the labeling on my bike. Probably the blingiest thing I have is this ... a Madonna del Ghisallo Medallion. I figure it can't hurt. lol

I need to move it to the nouveau steed, and still struggling with where to mount it.

Does a new all-carbon stem count as bling?

It was expensive enough.

Back when Avid made V brakes, I bought two pair of Single Digit Ultimate brakes. They were CNC machined with a very techno look, had ball bearing pivots and all stainless hardware. I guess I could justify having a very good brake as they were going on a tandem, but there was definitely a bling factor.

It’s a 2008 Ciocc Exige. The only thing Ciocc about it is the paint job though. The frame was made by Dedacciai (Deda).

Actually, the greatest bling in my last purchase was to splurge for Ultegra Di2, hydraulic discs, 11spd w/ rear hub motor. Lordy knows the most important thing in a bike for me these days is lower gears for the hills.

My newest bling gives me wings.

from yesterday’s ride

60+ years difference in my oldest and newest bling

….evolution, no revolutionary mods. But they bling me.
