I don't think age matters. You go slower as you age, but it's the same game.

You're the most encouraging person here. I really appreciate your presence and insights. I suffer a lot of anxieties, and one is about my decreasing strength. I need to accept it as normal while also "fighting" it.

It sucks, doesn't it? My motto is "Never give up." I'm very lucky in that I'm still more or less healthy. Which may not be all luck. I've been riding my rollers most days now, getting a little bit stronger. I'm only averaging about 100 watts, sucks, but I'm doing it. That may be as good as it gets. So what? I'm signed up for a couple bike tours in late summer. Paid, so I have to do it, no choice.

I lift three days a week, going for failure near the end of each second set of three. You can still be strong if you put your mind, heart, and body into it. Newton's first law applies to people, too.

In high school, my mid-ride nutrition was Reese's cups and an RC Cola. It still works, but RC is getting harder to find. Gatorade is an OK substitute, I guess. I like the Glacier Freeze. It works for after-ride, too. Beer is good, but I don't drink much; I prefer decent Scotch or bourbon if I'm gonna have a drink. A protein shake is useful (a prepared shake like Premier blended with a serving of whey powder), but it gets full of air and makes me belch.

Me, '56. Bike, '74.
