Skipping Spring. Getting right to Summer
 

I'm not ready...:cry:.... what happened to our Spring temps. I hope this isn't a precursor to a long HOT summer

Same here in Tucson, 103 for the next 3 days.

Meanwhile, over here in southeast FL, the daytime temps yesterday (3/18) were in down into the mid-60s°F. I’m finishing up snowbird winter, and looking forward to getting back to southern New England in a couple weeks. So, I didn’t think it was “cold” per se (I actually did a swim workout at the outdoor pool complex in Pompano). Temps like that in this area don’t surprise me in January or February. But in mid March???

Whew! Glad we aren’t that hot up here in ID. It’s only topping out in the low 80’s. I am enjoying morning rides in the 50’s vs mid 30’s.

They issued heat warnings for this week in Southern California. It's only forecasted to get to the mid-90s; hot for this time of year, which I guess explains why they would issue one. Mid-90s does not strike me as that bad. Just have to stay hydrated.

AZ temps are another story, I don't envy you folks.

Same here. We set a record yesterday with a high of 92 (normal average daytime high for march is 64) and expect to top that today and possibly tomorrow before it starts to cool down Saturday. Rode over to the coast on Tuesday to beat the heat and it was warmer there than it typically is in the summer.

I hope this is not an indicator of what summer is going to be like.

I ride more in hot weather than I will in cool whether. My stats are better during those hotter days of 85° F and above. So cycling wise, I'm okay with it going straight to summer. Climate wise...

Unseasonably warm here too ... even near the beach. And it is supposed to remain so for at least a week or so.

So much for the ski season too. Ugh.

It's been unseasonably cold here since Monday night with a cold front from the NW.


And I already put away all my long pants:mad:

Not here. We had a couple nice days in February, but got dumped on with 27" of snow last weekend. The traffic lanes on the main roads are snow-free, but the shoulders and bike lanes are still blocked with the plow tailings. Side roads are still snow covered. It supposed to warm up a little this weekend, so maybe we'll melt at least some of the snow, although that will mean a lot of water on the roads, and freezing into ice at night.

Yeah, hot weather riding is kind of the norm for the Summer and early Fall around here.

But those first few hot days are brutal, it takes me several hot rides to get my heart rate back down to something close to normal for the effort. I'm on day 3, and the heart rate is starting to come back down.

We skipped spring as well. However, we in northern Michigan went back to winter. In less than 48 hours we went from bare ground to 3 feet of snow. There goes any plans on on early breakout of the Cannondale Criterium. Back to riding the heavy mountain bike in slush and snow.

Spring-like around Seattle, day-time highs in low 50's.
Maybe less rain the next couple of weeks.
Hopefully some 60°s in April.

Looking in the trash for the two months that someone ripped out of the calendar. But then again, around here the arrival of last summer (2025) dawdled until mid-June.

Tour de Scottsdale moved ahead several weeks in 2026 from mid-April to late March, and I think it was to move into dates with historically cooler weather. And... it's forecast to be about 100° on ride day.

We've had some very cold weather (for north Florida) this winter, but the past several days have been beautiful. No early summer so far. I'll try to enjoy it because I know that summer heat and humidity isn't too far into the future.

Twenty degrees above normal high temperatures here in northern New Mexico. Rode shirtless for several days, even - unusual for March.

Out here in Seattle, we're a long way from warm weather. The heavy rain and the wind and the cold can make riding a bike a real experience .
When you wake up and hear the rain smacking the roof, you swear you won't ride today.
Takes a couple of cups of coffee to get the fortitude.

Positive thinker! I'm here in Seattle also and to me its still winter.

It's been one of the oddest winters I can recall, so far as temp swings go. Around Louisville yesterday, it was low 80's, today could tie a record if it reaches 88, forecast is 87. A week or so ago, we had a 40-degree temp swing from one day to the next. Along one of the creeks in the area, people's back yards have washed away, saw a pic of a garage where the corner was sitting on nothing but air! Sure do miss normal seasonal changes without the drastic swings and weather changes.

We barely had a Winter at all. Even below average rainfall in 2026.
Are you a recent transplant from somewhere south of Portlandia?

personally i am loving it. never did so much outdoor riding in "winter" ever. i've racked up more days riding to work just this month than i ever did in the past 4 years during winter. still cold in the AM but really nice on the way home, hot, but nice.

In Japan it's been business as usual, the cherry blossoms are right on time this year. 2 years ago winter lingered about 3 extra weeks, causing a delay in the cherry blossoms, not to mention affecting the farmers' planting schedule. The latter resulted in rice shortages later in the year, driving up prices and causing widespread consternation.

i'll bet the blossom delay threw off the foreign traveler plans. i'll bet it was pleasant with fewer crowds.

Seeing the title, I thought you meant cycling-wise.

In the past, March was for easy, flat rides and just getting outside. This year, my group is already doing 50mile rides in the hills. What happened to base miles? First one was tough, but now I'm glad I did it. Zwifting does help.

Yesterday: 82 degrees. Today: 35 degrees. Summer's not here yet.
