numb feet
Hello all, I am looking for advice and more:
51years old I am
6 years ago Cat3
Starting to ride again (err wanting to)
30-45 minutes into casual ride my feet start to get numb.
Look pedals
Shoes fit and even yesterday I bought another pair that are less stiff
Medication: some pill to lower blood presure think it is called Atenoloa
Bike: custom fitted Chris Chance (well custom fitted 8 years ago)
Any ideas?

All my numbness has been caused by shoes tied too tight.
Probably not your answer, though.
I went to SPD riding sandals a couple of years ago, but that probably not suitable for your kind of riding. I LOVE the SPD's.
Good luck.

How is your pedaling form after laying off so long? If I'm pedaling "squares" my feet get numb, but when I'm spinning nice circles I don't have that problem. Too tight can do it, too, as DnvrFox says.

Glad I'm not unique! My left toes get numb. I gear up and stand up pedalling for awhile. Next, I scan my body for any 'tight' areas and breath into the tightness,,trying to relax my whole body evenly. s that pedaling becomes an evire body 'event'. Sounds weird but it works for me.
The stronger I am, the easier relaxation becomes.
(If all else fails, Iturn up the music and get into a rhythm).
Have fun!

I had not just numb, but hot foot. Searing pain. I bought a pair of Shimano shoes that felt great in the store, but 10 minutes on the bike and I thought my toes were in a vice being cranked by a pro linebacker.
My cure was switching shoes - after moving the cleats and trying everything else I could think of. Specialized Body Geometry shoes helped me. My wife still has problems with it and is trying everything.
Good luck.

I have the same problem. It got diagnosed as Neroma, which is an inflamation of the nerves in the foot, especially between the third and fourth toe. I ended up putting superfeet insoles in every pair of shoes I own, including my road bike shoes (they make a version for cycling). The neroma is greatly reduced. The other thing is to make sure you are stretching properly your feet and legs. I now do it before going to bed and when getting up in the morning.
Hope this helps.
