Christmas eve

So its Christmas eve and I haven't been on the bike since the end of Nov. (not counting the lifecycle at the local YMCA). I look outside and its not raining or snowing and the roads look as if they are trying to dry. So I think-go spend an hour or so doing laundry and maybe it will get a little less wet. Pity the fool! I come back upstairs and look outside only to see a moderate fog along with the wet roads. I look at the bike then I look outside once more hoping the weather had changed(in Wi. that sometimes only takes a few minutes) no luck there. So I wrap my shiney new Brooks in plastic and I wrap myself in lonjohns and spandex (truly a sight to behold) and off I go. As I'm riding along trying to keep my glasses clean and not seeing the forest for the fog and hoping that I'm a lot more visible than I know that I am (no bright jersy for me) I can't help but think-d_ _n that in spite of it all, it sure is nice to be outside and on the bike! Happy Holidays to all!

p.s. A 15 mile ride that gave me at least 1 ride ouside every month of 2005.

The determination and resolve of the 50+ ers is absolutely incredible.

I really enjoy reading stories like this. Many of us have set goals like rck and have to do some very noteworthy things to meet them. It's not necessarily the mileage, the hill we attempt to climb or even how fast we are. It's all about how we get there.

Thanks for sharing the experience!
