Rebuild.
 

Last night I had my first ride on the Tandem since my major rebuild over Easter. It went fine but one problem has arisen. I changed the rear cassette and put on a new chain. I also looked at the Crankshaft sprockets and felt they were OK. Last night on the ride it wasn't. The middle ring has just a bit too much wear in it and the chain slips over the Teeth. This problem was not showing itself with the worn in chain but the new chain does not like that worn sprocket. I could just refit the old chain and cure the problem but worn chains wear out cassettes quicker than I would like so Cheaper in the long run to just fi a new sprocket.
Only one thing for it and that is a new Sprocket so down to the LBS on Saturday. Thing that worries me is that while in the shop- What else am I going to find that I need for the bike?

Incidentally it was only a short ride to settle bike down- 16 miles on paths and road.Average was poor at 14mph, but this is a flat ride except for the 1 mile 10% climb on the road in the middle. Got to about 6 miles from home and it was time for a drink at a pub- or was it. The smell of Fish and chips was too alluring so Cod and chips twice- eaten out of the paper watching the sunset was the order of the day.
Can't wait for the weekend for our 40 mile organised road ride at Hastings when we can have fish and chips again

P.S. not deserting pie, but Good wholesome stodge is worth it once in a while.

Stapfam, Comfort food exists in many forms. When not eating at Irma's, I'm partial to mac and cheese, esp. baked, esp. if I don't have to cook it. As it is I think I'll go have some leftovers from last Sun.

I really appreciate your letting us visit your world. I've never been to England although my family is originally from Dartmouth and the Cornwall region. Reading your posts is like a postcard from a cousin; one which evokes memories and awakens the senses: smells of frying fish, smells of the sea, the tangy taste of vinegar on the chips, the cry of the seabirds, the chill of the rain and moisture, the flavor of a decent pint. And of course, pie.

I certainly enjoy your posts; they must awaken some subliminal memories, perhaps a form of deja vu. Keep them coming.
