Bicycling isn't the Only Thing 50+'rs . . . .

The men's singing group I formed wowed them in church today.

There were 6 of us. Four part harmony.

We sang, "He LIves." (not, "Because He Lives")

and we sang a wonderful rendition of the "White Spiritual," Lonesome Valley (the song in the movie, O Brother, Where Art Thou).

I had a solo in Lonesome Valley. (I didn't start "serious" singing until almost exactly one year ago.) We sang for two services.

Anyway, we were GREAT, if I do say so myself.

Many compliments.

The average age of the group is approximately 68-69 yo. Of the 6 of us, 4 do solo work (and the other 2 could if they wanted). A really talented group.

GREAT FUN!

I am also part of our Church's choir, I sing base. And cycling has increased my lung capacity. For cycling and singing!

If I keep my heart rate below 130, I sing while I spin!

longtime singer

I've been singing in chorus' since not long after I learned to ride a two-wheeler: 7 years old, in a synagogue choir. Now (52 y.o.) I'm in a local performance choir. We were recently part of a Grammy-award winning CD. Wife and I were part of a cast of perhaps 450 musicians.

He Lives is a wonderful number. Great to hear you're still exploring new things to do!

Oaky, I screwed up my courage and have posted the songs.

I sang the 2nd solo on "Lonesome Valley."

It takes a couple of minutes to download each song on DSL. A much longer time on dialup. They are about 2.5 mb. I haven't figured out streaming audio yet - any help here with streaming audio?
