Credit Limit Raised...what bike to buy?
Well, a major banking institution has just raised my credit line to $48,000. Without me asking. And believe me, I don't go anywhere NEAR my limit.
So, naturally, I immediately wondered -- what kind of bike should I buy?
And no, I'm not serious, so you don't have to give me advice!

Buy a real steel bike like this one. (https://cgi.ebay.com/1969-Schwinn-Par...QQcmdZViewItem) It will be a good investment.

Gary, fly to Italy, have Ernesto personally fit you (that way you'll finally get a bike that fits you). Stay in a nice hotel; ride a little, soak up the sun a little. Visit a few wineries, eat some pasta, smile at the ladies. And when you get back, take the $1.47 left over after the trip and expenses, go buy a piece of pie.
Anybody have some Italian phrases that Gary should bone up on before his trip they'd like to share? Like: Avete torta di mirtillo? (Do you have blueberry pie?) Or: Questa sella lascia un programma sulla mia estremità? (Does this saddle leave a map on my butt?)
You know, important phrases.

Our Man of the Cloth speaks the truth, Gary. That Paramount is gorgeous. Definitely my kind of machine!

Dude, get real!
In 20-30 years you're history like the rest of us. What in the hell are you waiting for??? Spend the summer researching and test riding, then get EXACTLY the bike you want, even if it costs $2500!!!

On your death bed, what would you rather be thinking
"Gosh, I am $2,500 less in debt"
or
"Hey, it was a blast riding that great bike all those years"
?

Options include a solid gold toilet, an $8000 Jan Ulrich Carbon Fiber roadie, Hwy40's old folder with a broken in Brooks saddle, or a custom one man tandem...

Too many bikes to choose from but If I were going for a road bike- Which I am not- and if I were going for a top end one-which I am not. Then I would look at Titanium frames. Have the feel of steel but lighter, last longer and might even make some of the racers drool. Then again you are not looking for a top end racing lightweight, or hope you are not.
I suggest looking at the better range of Trek's, as you have a good dealer in your area. Not one of the top of the range ones but something a bit more suited to your abilities. Then in a couple of years you can take the training wheel off and go for it.
Top end bike with no expense spared?

Its that funny Black stuff that most top end bikes seem to be made of but this one is getting a few good reviews over here.
Or for Titanium then

But for a 26 x 26 bent, you couldn't

Once you're Bent you never go back

You missed the boat. DG beat you to the LBS and whipped out his huge credit limit and bought that Huge Tandem. Can you believe it? Dr. Philepe Diego probably has something to observe about this matter. And Gary, just make certain you don't hit any defenseless animals on that rig--- or PETA Diego will be all over your case.
