On your best behavior?
I'll be away a couple of days. Can you all behave yourselves while I'm gone?

I'm not much for fifty cent words, but Buddy Boy, you're asking for a slew of them right here and now. How about narssicist, just for a start? There are over 3 million regular readers of the 50+ Bike Forum, and you seem to think that you and you alone can hold the line between civilization and complete chaos with a simple, lady-like, "be nice now." Let me tell you what it's really like to draw a line in the sand and defend it, Pally. Every day, thousands of cops hit the streets of Los Angeles, and along with their Bibles and their copy of the State of California Penal Code and their badge, they carry a firearm. It's locked, and it's loaded for bear. Because the one thing a criminal mind fears most is the taste of hot lead. And hot air won't cut it, Sir. The Macy's parade could use a few lungfuls of your nonsense to float it's balloons on Thanksgiving. But you don't have to give thanks for anything, do you Mr. I-Can-Do-Everything-From-My-Desktop? No, it's all about you and your magic beanstalk, the one that lets you climb away from trouble every time it rears it's ugly head. But maybe this is the time you skee-daddle out of town, and when you come back, there's nothing left but a burning pile of rubble. Rubble with your name all over it.

You can certainly be testy! Why in the world that Padre Diego would want you to speak one Sunday morning is beyond me? Open your mouth, and in 20 seconds or less my whole congregation would be cowering under the pews--- or walking out on you. After spewing your nasty threats and insults, let me remind you that you are a Public Servant. Paid a salary by the good people who pay their taxes and understand their obligation to the rest of civilization. Certainly we need tough guys like you to keep the criminal element at bay, but never forget who "brought you to the dance."
Gary, have a nice time. Enjoy your new locale. Rent a bike and see new sights.

I rode right past a Baker's Square last night. Is that "best behavior"? Or a lapse from the True Faith?

If 50+ers are allowed to go traipsing all over, unsupervised, soon teenagers will demand to be out on their own recognizance. And then 5 year olds, toddlers, and newborns. Where will it end? This is a mighty slippery slope you are treading on bucko.

Why do you expect us to behave when you are gone when we don't behave when you are here?

When I was leaving the house, my mom would always brace my shoulders and say a variant on, "Stay Safe". When my kids (still) leave I always give them a "Hey, I love you"....as if there is some potent, magic charm in those parental words to ward of bad stuff.
DG, I will resist saying "Love you".........but a manly "Have a good trip" seems appropriate!
