I printed out the sample primary ballot, and it only had two things to vote on - candidates for very minor local positions - of whom I knew neither, and of whom none had a chance of getting elected anyways in the November ballot in this one party county. So, I didn't vote. However, as it is only .5 miles away, I would have walked or bicycled if I DID vote.

No vote today, but I always ride my bike to vote. Parking is much easier, and where better to remind drivers that bicyclists vote.

no election here but the elementary school that is our polling place is at the end of our block: actually about the same to walk or bike - we always walk and see many of our neighbors walking as well

No election here, either. The last time that I rode to vote was earlier this year. We had a levy on the ballot which, a portion of, was to help fund the maintenance and expansion of the local bike paths. I guess others could tell which way I was going to vote. Unfortunately the levy failed.

Our state legislature just overrode the governors veto of money for rails to trails program. As governors are only figure head, it's pretty routine to have good government in spite of them.

Our "Governor Good Hair" wouldn't know good government if it stepped on his toes...
His latest proposal is a Super Highway across the state with a 1/4 mile width to accomodate 8 - 16 lanes of vehicular traffic. Oh, there would be a rail line in there, too, probably. Rails to trails? If he's ever heard of it, he's given no indication. Our state parks are falling apart and/or closing due to lack of funding by the legislature: evidently prisons are more important in Texas than schools, parks or alternative transportation routes...
