Fell Today

Got cut off by a Sunday driver and took a fall. Front tire was shredded, an hour later it blew out. But the tires needed replacement anyway. I called the wife to come pick me up because when you're in your 50's you have to be a little more careful. Some scratches on the left hand and leg, a little sore. I've replaced the tires and checked the bike over so I'm good to go. Amazing how no one pulled over to see if I was okay.
Is there any way to attach a bazooka to my bike?

Scythes attached to the axles like in Ben Hur. If they are going to get you, make 'em pay. Glad you're ok.

A bazooka? No, but a small rocket launcher..... maybe. Glad you weren't seriously hurt. When much younger and riding motorcycles, my best buddy and I would go to the Army Navy store and buy some dis-armed hand gernades. We'd carry one with us and if someone in a car did something stupid that could have hurt us, we'd ride along side them, and threaten to toss the gernade at them. One day, my buddy actually threw one in the back seat of a guys car. You never saw someone stop so fast and dive out of a car. Pretty stupid stuff looking back on it, but I know the feeling you must of had toward the driver that cut you off.

A mantra......Drivers are A**holes, Riders are holy, Drivers are A**holes, Riders are holy,.....

Depending how hard you hit, you may be sore tomorrow....a little Advil, etc. would be good tonight.
Glad it wan't worse. We all need to stay alert out there. Sometimes, it's just your turn to fall and there's not a damned thing you can do about it.

I'm sure that there is, but I hope it isn't hilly where you live because that will be a lot of weight to drag up the hills.:)

Paint ball Pistol. Fits in a jersey pocket.

I've thought about looking into a Taser. That would work. Feel good Hask-

Could there be a way to put brake fluid in a couple of paint balls, syringe or something?
My car has been shot with paint balls and the stuff washes off pretty well.
The grenade in the back seat made my day, I'm glad my wife is out so she didn't have to hear me roar out loud with laughter. :)

Hey Hasak'. Glad you're OK. Watch the back for the next little while. The 'cascade' of events and stiffness may make it more vulnerable to wrenching loose. [From one who wrote the book. . .or rather edited some of the main chapters on back re-injury.]

Thanks to everyone for their concern. It has been almost two weeks since the accident and amazingly enough it took almost that entire time to completely recover, although, fortunately, the injuries haven't kept me from riding. It has been kind of chilly here in N.E. Ohio the past few days, so riding has been a bit of a challenge. But 65 today and low 70's the next 2 days has me psyched. Just have to watch out for the bad guys driving cars.

While drivers don't understand this point it is a fact.

Cutting off a pedestrian or cyclist in a manner that DOES cause them
harm or injury can be classed as (in the eyes of the law).........

Assault & Battery or Attempted Murder

Which is what it is even if no other weapon except a car were used.

No kidding.

Hask12 10-01-06 01:51 PM

Although, that may in fact be the law, I'm sure it's rare when it's actually enforced. I just think that a lot of people out there either don't see the bike coming, don't care that the bike is coming, think that giving the bike the right of way is a nuisance, hate people on bikes, or don't understand the laws of the road when it comes to bikes. I always thank drivers that are courteous, but I never assume that that will happen. Too often I see cars pass me too closely or pull out of driveways not giving a damn that I have to hit the breaks hard in order to avoid a collision.
