Updating the Rogue's Gallery Once Again, Info Database, Bicycling Magazine

OK, I have updates and new entries from:

psycholistbob
tkunich
frusso10 (need picture and screen name)

and will be updating the Rogue's Gallery once again in about one week.

Anyone else?

EVERYONE is welcome. Newbies with 100 miles under their tires, oldies with 100,000 miles, folks just 50yo and folks 90yo. We even have a couple of entries from "wanna-be's" just approaching 50!

Send to bfn50gallery@aol.com

This is likely the largest single collection with pictures of info about bicyclists 50+ anywhere. However, this is totally unstructured.

The actual largest structured collection of info that I know of about "senior" bicyclists is the thread:

Special Thread For 50+yo Bicyclists which is much more structured, (there are answers to 7 posed questions about cycling after 49yo) and provides enough info about 50+ bicyclists for a thesis or at least an article! I believe we have info on about 300 50+ bicyclists. Anyone interested in compiling the data and writing something? I'm not!

I have tried by email to bring the Rogue's Gallery to the attention of Bicycling Magazine, in the hopes of at least a URL reference. But, evidently, we 50+'rs don't count in their eyes (surprise, surprise)! However, if we don't count with them, the demographics will eventually catch up with them. Not everyone is 24yo and riding a Litespeed or CF. Anyone have any contacts there?

Merry Xmas Fox! I don't know why Bicycling Magazine wouldn't put in a tiny blurb with a website reference, but that magazine seems to cater primarily to the high end racers or mountain bike young jock types. I currently subscribe, but probably will let it expire. I've been looking closely at each issue the past few months, and other than the occasional interesting article, MORE than every other page is a full page ad for something, usually the right hand page! And some of the articles (the ones on health or nutrition, trraining, etc.) are the same as in my wife's Running magaizine with words like "runner" changed to "cycler" etc. With over 50% of the content being advertisments, to heck with it.
Keep up the good work with the Rogues Gallery! It's always interesting to see what some of the other posters look like and a bit about them!
Merry Xmas to everybody!

Thanks, Bobkat!

I don't mind the ads in Bicycling Magazine, as ads are the only way most mags can keep afloat. But, I guess there is only so much you can write about bicycling, and I do get tired of the continuous "12 steps to get yourself in shape and ride faster" articles. But, every now and then they do have an excellent article.

I was sort of disappointed after sending the RG link to a variety of email addresses at Rodale Publishing/Bicycling Magazine and not getting any response. But, I know it takes more than that to get their attention.

I seems to me that as the baby boomers get more into physcial activity that the magazine is going to have to change its emphasis. Then again, I read the "Road Cycling Forum" on BFN abd think otherwise! They seem to all be into speed and light bicycles.

tkunich? Wonder if that is the prolific poster that I used to read on rec.bikes.racing. Rather opinionated but interesting.
