Can you hurt your knee

if your knee cap is to far back behind the pedal axle ? Or will it give you more of a power stroke? Thanks George

I don't think it will hurt your knee, but I would think over the pedal would allow you to mash it harder if you needed to.

I don't know how you can get your knee that far behind the pedal. Most bikes are made to put you in front or at least over the pedal.

I've found that since I passed 50, I can hurt/injure just about anything.

+1.

Often, just thinking about a body part makes it start to hurt. Sigh.

There is a correct way to set up the riding position on a bike- but it is different for everyone.
Get the saddle height right- Get the bar position right and then start on the for and aft position to get the knees in the right place and it all starts again. I have a system in that I try to get my knees in front of the Centre of the pedal. It works for me but It cannot be done on every bike. So It does not matter to me where the knee is when I ride, within reason. The only thing that makes it hurt is too many hills.
