Terrierman has won an unannounced contest

For shameless begging, terrierman has been awarded a prize (which he wants) in an unannounced contest. He has even been digging through my old posts and is by default the leader in the announced contest for the Bontrager Fairlane wheelset.

This contest may have to be restarted with an easier clue for the over 50 set..........:p

For the over 60 set can we have answers instead of clues? I'm just no good at these contests - announced or unannounced:rolleyes:

All unannounced contests have the same theme...no one knows about them, they are at the discression of the person doing them and their purpose is unknown. my two sense..........pun intended

Tom Bombadil 04-05-07 10:13 AM

Terrierman digusts me.

Digital Gee 04-05-07 10:26 AM

Terrierman is a lucky duck.

maddmaxx 04-05-07 10:47 AM

Just for that I'm going to send him 2 prizes.

Terrierman 04-05-07 10:54 AM

Hah!

bcoppola 04-05-07 11:07 AM

I think Beverly deserves a prize for her topless avatar. :)

maddmaxx 04-05-07 11:31 AM

I do too, but I seen the list of bikes in that profile and I'm afraid that none of my prizes would be worthy. Part of the purpose of these contests is to pass along relatively good stuff to people who can make use of it. If a little fun is had along the way well..........

Now as to terrierman. That much fan support from a Maxx groupie just has to be rewarded.

Floyd 04-05-07 12:14 PM

Actually, I like contests...remember the first one where I was in gradeschool and we were 'touring' a local meat market that opened and I was the ??customer in line and got a pound of sausage or something... made me feel important......... all contest winners are important, even if it is an unannounced fun thing to do on a very important bike forum..................................peace

Tom Bombadil 04-05-07 08:07 PM

I'm trying to send DG a "prize" but he won't cooperate.

I still have a lot to learn about this forum. Unannounced contest???

I was corrected [elsewhere] for posting a photo of my pink helmet. Someone said I took the thread off-topic, they were talking about black and white helmets. I said I was responding to some other posts further up in the thread about pink helmets. I decided to slink back over here and stay where it is safe....

bcoppola 04-05-07 09:11 PM

This thread ain't about helmets, lady. Take it somewhere else. :)

I haven't posted/visited much in the past month or so and I don't know how this "contest" thing got started either. Some sort of in-joke. I guess something had to replace the Diegos.

Oh, geez, Yen doesn't know about the Diegos, does she?

This is an interesting turn of events, because when I was in Oregon last week, Webb Diego was the Grand Marshall of "Citizens For Fairness In Internet Contests Days" up in Pendelton. I thought his opening night remarks had a stone cold ring of truth to them, so I'll go ahead and post the highlights...

"...I know what you're all thinking, 'Who cares about unannounced internet contests?' All I can say I hope you enjoy swapping your tractor for a hammer and sickle, because Comrades, that's what you'll be farming with if unannounced internet contests continue unabated in this country. Oh sure, an unannounced internet contest here or there doesn't seem to hurt anything, does it? A slick, on-line huckster will ask a few dumb questions, make a few wisecracks, and give away some useless merchandise to a non-existant winner...and no harm's done, right? But that's not the way it plays out in my book, fellas. A few thousand on-line enthusiasts will waste maybe an hour of their time, trying to solve the puzzle that doesn't exist, and that adds up to a few thousand man-hours of work lost. So what happens next? The factories of this great nation cover their losses by raising their wholesale prices to the retailers, who then raises their retail prices to the consumer, who is left with that much less to spend when it comes time to send his kids to college. And we end up with a bunch of lilly-wristed, punk haired lefties going to community college and letting their dreams and ambitions go up in a cloud of reefer, pot, mary jane, 13, bong, joint, or grass...all the while watching re-runs of Brokeback Mountain, and ending every empty headed sentance with the phrase, 'Just Sayin.' No, Ladies and Gentlemen, make my on-line contests announced, the way the Good Lord intended."

maddmaxx 04-06-07 04:47 AM

Now that deserves a prize! That was the perfect unannounced contest post. I am impressed. BP I knew you had it in you to step up in the big game. You have finally won a contest!!!!!

To think that a police offer would go on duty after drinking Blue Riboon...disgusting!

Burgermeister was the preferred breakfast brew back in the day...

Since my recent brush with good Karma, perhaps I should take advantage of the moment. If anyone has a future unannounced contest with a prize of a 55-57 cm steel touring bike or frame, please make sure to consider me entered!

I would also be interested in any of the following prizes:

A magical device or substance that would help me get the stem out of my 1955 Corvette, a set of 7 speed brifters, rams horn handlebar in nice shape (although I am pretty happy with my current rusty one, it is just like what I had in the 70's), vintage style grips, a Garmin GPSMap 60 csx with bicycle mounting bracket, or ??? :D

The Diegos???

DG, I know you are joking :D, but I think I shouldn't have posted that. I edited the comment. :o
