I have actually considered getting one engraved like a Road ID with appropriate information for emergencies, and to identify the bike in case it wanders away.

I think most "casual" thieves would not even think about looking for ID like that.

That might be true. You could have some form of ID in plain sight and the average thief might overlook it.

A thief with a 6mm allen wrench and 20 seconds of time will remove and discard your pretty ID stem cap.

When I order the custom made roof rack accessories, just shoot me.

I was thinking more of id risers. And most casual thieves wouldn't have an allen wrench, would they?

They do if you carry a multitool or tool kit in your underseat bag. My friend had his new Koolstop brake pads/holders stolen. Another friend had his 12 year old Brooks saddle stolen in Illinois while participating in AC Northern Tier tour. I speculate that a "casual" thief carries the appropriate tools of his/her trade.

I have engraved/personalized stem caps on all of my threadless stemmed bikes but only because they look good.....absolutely NO expectation of theft deterant.

I like that.....Bling for Blings sake.....no socially redeaming values necessary.

Now another 10 lbs and on goes the giant smiley face jersey...

One little thing though, those really are pants guards, arent they? Cool site, but I already have custom valve stem caps.
